monsters from this game were real, human weren't as tough as in game (the average weapon in MH would weigh almost a tonne and a bite from a jaggi or a tail swipe from an epioth or a aponoth headbutt would be very dangerous), the monsters defensive strength rages from minions kill-able with guns (uroktor are rhenoplos are exceptions, use your common sense for the other minions) and real life normal stuff to small boss monsters needing police force or military fire to bring down (a grenade is fine though) to barroths skin and monsters on his level taking extreme stuff like multiple grenades or a 10-15 group of people with heavy, armor piercing bullets in machine guns to bring down, the rathalos, lagiacrus, brachydios and others like them would be bullet immune and would need your old grenades and other higher grade explosives to go inside the thing to hurt it, things like uragaan and other toughies like the rare species and things like nargacuga..... lol, then the elder dragons would take nukes to bring down (the unicorn is weaker and far more common though, and the fatalis and alatreon and other super elders could take multiple nukes though), there would be multiple elder dragons though they would be quite rare (the three fatalis are the same species just different ages, white being oldest), the other monsters have numbers in the hundreds of millions and all the monsters have great strength although the real boss monsters (great wroggi and the other small monsters like royal ludroth and great jaggi are NOT proper bosses) have tank crushing strength with the exception of the average elder dragon having destructive power on the level of natural disasters and things like lagi having things like causing extreme thunderstorms, the monsters are unaffected by our worlds higher gravity (that rath is still flying) and are just as agile as in-game, they are not limited to doing atom identical attacks and can adapt to their situation.
use your common sense for which monsters go where.
