General Explanation - Page 2

Kinda late to the conversation but I think I know a way to explain the way the games work and why they're fun.

Think of it's approach kind of like the Souls games, only mission based instead of a linear progression. The majority if not entirety of the gameplay comes from learning what to do and how to use that knowledge as opposed to how fast you can press buttons. Add to that a very unique world with fantastic though oddly believable creatures and you have monster hunter.

Every weapon has an incredibly different feel to it and with 3U there's plenty of options to find something you'll enjoy. Though I'd suggest starting out with the good ol' sword and board, it's a weapon type I've had a lot of fun with in third gen games since they added shield bashing to KO monsters.

But anyways, as for the thing that you said about it not being about how fast you can press buttons, I like that idea of that. There are always those games where you just mash the A button in order to destroy enemies, and that honestly gets old.

Each monster you fight is unique, with it's own attack style, elemental attacks/ailments (poison/paralysis/sleep). Capcom basically sets you out in the big world of monster with little to no knowledge of these things. You literally are a rookie hunter just like the game says.

You fight and learn to get better for the next big challenge. Not only that but each monster gives you materials to craft into stronger equipment. It's really addicting. Eventually you get to a point that we like to call 'farming'. It's where your skill has gotten so good you can defeat a monsters so easy it's hardly a challenge. < that also turns people off about the series because it was designed with that in mind. You mostly only get rare materials that way.

Online play is for the WiiU only unfortunately, but that adds a whole new dimension. The monsters you face are tougher, and you can have up to four members in a party at a time. There's even support style weapons and sets you can build that are only useful for this. there's even monsters that are exclusively online.

Don't worry about starting a file on the 3ds and then getting a wiiU+triU. The games are compatible for file transfer and even local play. You can take your file with you on the go, and when you get home simply move it on your wiiU with all the progress intact.

I heard that the MH3 servers were being shut down soon anyway, i think it might be worth it to wait until MHTU, we only have just over 3 months worth of waiting

And no one as far as i saw talked bout the difference between Blunt damage and cutting damage, well it's pretty self explanatory anyway
