	I am pretty sure you can restore your computer to a previous date where the save game would be loadable. I think you would lose any other work done between the date you restore it from and now. It might have done it if you switched your computer off when the game was in the middle of saving it. -------------------

	As for likely causes, the main cause is closing FM whilst the game is saving. Though sometimes, it can just happen. So always keep at least 2 save files going.
