	Log in to remove this advertisement I usually get one of these each season but this time I think I've made one of my more memorable signings in my entire FM history. I'm quite an obvious manager in the sense that I manage top clubs and tend to buy top players for example I've been Man City and signed Neymar, Hazard etc. but this time as Arsenal I took what I thought was a risk. Rather than opting to buy a top striker like Cavani or Tevez I wanted to save money and ended up signing Anichebe from Everton at £7.5m on the deadline day. My initial prediction was that he'd probably play around 20 games and get between 5 and 10 goals however I was wrong, in his debut against Newcastle he smashed in a hattrick and has been performing consistantly on and off the bench, recently I was 1-0 down to AC Milan and he came off the bench and scored twice in the last 10 minutes. He's played 7 games and has 9 goals already however in his contract I gave him the goal bonus (10 league goals in a season for X ammount)and I noticed players tend to come up short of goals once they hit these targets. 	Had a Similar result with Jordan Rhodes when i managed Newcastle, signed him in the January transfer window after he had fallen out with Huddersfield. Demba Ba went away with Senegal to African Cup of Nations, in came Jordan Rhodes. Finished the season with 15 apps and 16 goals, not bad for a young League one player straight into a Premiership team. Also got Frimpong on loan to cover for Tiote and he was absolute class. Definitely a quality loan signing.

	signed josh kennett on deadline day for fleetwood just as needed urgent right back for cover. didnt think he would get a regular game but ended up averaging 7.60 and got in the team of the year. bargain on a free

	Heard gossip that Rhodes could be moving to West Ham this january, as a Hammers fan we would definately benefit in the 2nd half of the season with him. I think signings like these makes FM so fun to play and I find myself buying cheaper players more often, I've got the funds to buys players in the £30m - £40m range but my targets are players such as Stephen Ireland, Marc Albrighton, Junior Hoilett or similar and I'd much rather win competitions with these kinds of players than a squad full of obvious world beaters. ------------------- Police In Helicopter...

I agree with you completely there mate, I prefere making most of those type of players I buy British aswell. Luke Chambers & Chris Cohen are two I got from Nottingham Forest when I was Aston Villa on last years game, they were both crucial to me winning the Champions League

	The game becomes too easy when you buy all the best players in the world, isn't quite as satisfying winning things imo. My first game of every new FM is always Man Utd so I can get to grips with all the new changes and whatnot and then I go straight onto teams in the lowest divisions of their nation or a team in an obscure country for the bigger challenge.

Got him for around 3m, paid 1m up front and 2m over 36months. I set him to poacher, with a target man next to him and a trequartista behind. Seemed to work, i did try sign him on my Liverpool save but had no luck and ended up with Jelle Vossen instead aha.

I've always been meaning to buy Rhodes and build him up but always forget and now in 2017 he's basically been wasted and isn't looking too hot.

	With Celtic I brought in Yaya Sanogo just as a rotation option after the first season on a freebie. He was moaning midway through the season because I always went Bangura and Hooper. Ended up having 25 goals in 25 games. ------------------- twitter @TheMcCabe_

I've always been meaning to buy Rhodes and build him up but always forget and now in 2017 he's basically been wasted and isn't looking too hot. Wasn't expecting it myself earlier, mainly got him for back-up and for the future...turned out better than expected haha. How old is he on there now then 27? Not sure how he develops under the AI.

	In my latest game as City I am trying to only sign English players, at least for now, and I was short a wide option and a striker as I refuse to play Tevez. I went and got Agbonlahor because I love having real pace in the side. He started my first Champions League match against APOEL and scored 2 goals and set the next up. The following match I went back to starting Dzeko and Aguero, and the underperforming Aguero was brought off at half time and replaced by Gabby. The former Villan scored another two goals and provided another assist. I guess that even with rubbish technicals, if my midfield and wide players are good, there will be more then enough opportunity for him. Just so you know, my other signings were Jack Robinson, Jack Rodwell and Kyle Walker. I am hoping to get the English managers job when Capello goes and have a core from my City team.

	I signed Greg Stewart from Cowdenbeath until the end of the season in my first season with Hibs after a successful trial. He had an average rating of 7.20 every game and scored 7 goals for me in his first season for me. He was valued £35,000 then by the time July 2012 comes he was now valued at £300, 000. Never really tried Agbonlahor, i guess he's similar to Walcott who i had a lot of success with when i had a save with England (played him as a lone striker with Rooney in AMC). Would love to try them both up front together. May start up a new game and try something similar to what your doing. Have you had any luck with Jack Robinson, there's always a lot of hype around him yet he always turns out average for me.

	I am only a few matches into the save, Robinson has performed so well that because Clichy is out injured for 3 weeks, Jack is starting ahead of Aleks Kolarov. Cost me an absolute motza though. 25 million pounds because Liverpool were reluctant to sell.
