Since my last post I've played a couple more seasons, the regens I've previously posted are coming on well;




I also have some new regens that have come through my academy and look promising;



I've also set up a link with Stade Rennais FC where I have first option on their players, it's already starting to pay off after I got this guy from their U18's:

Overall things are going well, I have some other regens which aren't from my academy and am beginning to reach the quarters/semis in the champions league.

I downloaded a database online. Finished first season in 2nd place and got 15m for it!

I'm also giving this a shot with quite an obscure country! I've gone with Icelandic champions Fimleikafélag Hajnarfjaroar (FH).

The squad is easily good enough to win the league in the first year, so I can start to integrate the youngsters whilst trying to make an impression on European trophies. There's a couple that have 4* potential from the start, so i'll be playing those and awaiting the first bunch of regens eagerly!

Just got this guy as a youth trialist and signed him up.





He doesn't quite look THAT good lol.

Still, I never seem to get good players from my youth team so I'm looking forward to seeing what he turns out like.

Not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed that I contributed to the original discussion back in 08. The original idea was to have a whole squad (or at least a first 11) from your own academy. I finally have a save set up that I feel I can begin to do this with. I have tried this in every game since then and never really succeeded because I used to do it from the off and want to turn all of my regens into first team players.

This time I did it differently. I built a world dominating team that was young enough to last me for the forseeable future. Invested in brilliant regens when young and relatively cheap to make sure my team doesn't dry out. Used these players to test run the best way to develop talent. Only now am I looking to concentrate on my academy talent. I realsie that to make this work you need to accept the players are not going to be the aboslute best players, but you can build your team to suit them and still compete at a high level.

That said the only breakthrough so far is this guy, and I certainly would not let him be here if it wasn't for him being from my academy.

Going to try and implement this into my Southhamton game, a club known for its youth academy. Got a few hopefuls that I'll post later.

steakface, I have exactly the same problem, I'm in 2023 with Southampton and have a world class CB, a decent DMC, a decent LW and a decent ST from my academy. I've had about 6 strikers come through my academy who would be good enough for the first team if I developed them properly. The problem is I already have a striker form the academy in my first team and only play 1 up front. There's really no chance of me getting an entire team full of good regens from the academy. I have a couple that have just come through that I'm hopeful about but one of them is a striker and the other is a CB/DMC!!! By the time I have a regen for each position that is good enough the first regens I got will have retired...
