Last Years

Quite a popular addition to the FM2011 forum, I've seen a few people ask about the possibility of a thread for this year's edition of the game, so decided to put one up. Basically, for those who aren't familiar, the thread is a chance to portray your season through seasonal reports, rather than creating a SOMS, whilst creating discussion between fellow members on how their FM career is going. Check out last years thread for enlightenment if you wish, good few examples in that thread.

I'll throw up one fairly soon for my Shrewsbury career, until then, the floor is all yours. :>!

Nice update to get the ball rolling with this thread ricky706, very thorough and detailed. Good luck in your first season with Premiership football, some inspired signings there, they should prove good enough for the demands of the Prem. I'm at about March with my Shrewsbury game, so no update yet, but I will put one up at the end of the season, so far so good in terms of results.

Transfers

Ultimately, I decided that my squad was strong enough to place where we were expected; mid-table. The only problem was depth in midfield places, and due to being financial prudent, I stuck to loans and possible free transfers. Blackburn were brought in as a parent club, hence the Pearson transfer, Whichelow was shite and was only brought in because McKee suffered a broken foot. McKee was instrumental in the few games he played, and even managed to get onto the 'Favoured Personnel' list in the short time he was at the club. Going out was Marvin Morgan, who was not up to scratch. There weren't any takers, so I shifted half his wages onto someone else for a season in the hope he'd perform well and get a permanent move. Wroe was only sold due to contract discussions being miles apart in valuations, I decided that I would get some money for him whilst I can, be that only £1k. Goldson went on loan for some game-time and due to the strength in place for his position.



Npower League 2
Given mid-table finish as a respectful probability, I decided that it wouldn't be enough, and given the players I had at my disposal, I could do much better. Constant pressure on the opposition coupled with deadly strikers meant I flew up the league, and held onto that position. Breaking records galore, I had a triumphant first season in charge, almost nearly breaking the 120 points barrier, and almost going unbeaten. Not seen in the screenshot are Port Vale and Aldershot who were relegated.

Additional silverware is always nice, and this one helped with my finances in the nice little boosts to the club coffers. The final was a very nervy game, Swindon are dirty bastards who injured three of my players, but I edged it on pens due to my superior penalty taking players.



The Squad
Terry Gornell and James Collins are the most fierce partnership I've had this year. They probably won't get figures like this in League 1, but they absolutely pillaged League 2. With suppliers like Mark Wright and Joe Jacobson in full flow, chances were never the problem. Tom Bradshaw also filled in nicely when neccessary, proving that he deserves a squad place even though his growth stagnated. Jason Bluck was the best youth candidate that came through, and was given 4.5* potential by my coaches so I decided to give him game-time when the title was wrapped up. I'll see what budget I get before deciding on where to strengthen for League 1.
