WildStar may be pushed back into 2014, damn the world, but it seems like Carbine Studios is keeping their marketing rolling out at a steady pace without a hitch. That includes a brand new DevSpeak trailer dealing with CC (crowd control) and to top that off 60 brand spanking new screenshots. Screenshots of just... stuff. Zones and dudes and enemies and... stuff. Just look at them already.
It's the modern MMO thing to do to take classic gamepay systems and add a "spin" to them, to create dynamic combat where there wasn't before. Generally, unless they're especially creative, I don't like reinventing the wheel. In crowd control's case, however, something had to be done. Will WildStar's solution solve that? Eh, in some cases they have good ideas -- blind and disarm for sure. Others? I'm not persuaded on mashing a key to get out of a stun. Still, with that 2014 release date maybe they can iterate a bit more.
Hopefully WildStar's maintaining their marketing despite the delay because they've got plans to increase beta activity over the next couple of months. With what could be another 6 months between no and release, anything less and I'd feel a bit mislead, a bit too teased. Save it for launch if we're not going to have the chance to play it for so long, guys! Ahh, oh well. It's still fun whether it's launching soon or not.
