Gearbox is feeling the love at PAX East, taking the opportunity to fully reveal their sixth playable class for Borderlands 2 -- Krieg, the Pyscho Bandit. That's not all! A level increase is also coming, from 50 to 61, part of the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack which also unlocks a third play through of Borderlands 2. The Krieg character DLC will cost $9.99 and release in May, while the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack will be available April 2 -- included as part of the season pass.
Who is this Krieg? Well, as a psycho, he sounds like the sort of guy you don't want to invite to parties. His activatable skill is Buzz Saw Rampage, which allows him to make puddles out of his enemies with both melee and ranged capabilities. Speccing into any of his trees -- Bloodlust, Mania or Hellborn -- will likely only end in sadness for all parties. Oh, he has multiple personalities too, as if he wasn't a charming enough fellow already.
As awesome as Krieg sounds, it's no understatement to say that most Borderlands faithful are likely most excited to hear about the level increase from 50 to 61. I'll stop short of saying Gearbox really owed fans a free DLC level increase, but including it in the Season Pass should meet fans half way. If they've stuck with the game this long, they likely have the Season Pass. Also, the third full play through with Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode should ramp up the challenge to make those last eleven levels feel particularly rewarding.
Get psyched, or should I say psycho'd, for Borderlands 2's Krieg character DLC to be released this May for $9.99 with the following trailer. Prior to that, the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack will release on April 2 as part of the Season Pass (no individual price noted) which raises the level cap from 50 to 61. It's like a really messed up Christmas in Pandora.
