Gearbox President Randy Pitchford, or DuvalMagic as he's known on Twitter, provided an interesting response to a fan's question last night. Responding to an inquiry as to whether Borderlands 2 would be receiving a level increase or the addition of a sixth class, Pitchford confirmed such things were in the works. The language he used to confirm such things may not be what current fans expected, however.
Here's Pitchford's response to whether Borderlands 2 would receive a level increase and a sixth character class:
@basemixkills We're working on new DLC for these things in addition the campaign DLC offered in the season pass.— Randy Pitchford (@DuvalMagic) February 26, 2013
In other words, any level increase or extra class DLC would come in addition to the final campaign DLC scheduled as part of Borderlands 2's season pass. In other, other words, there's a lot of fans out there who are going to be disappointed they bought a season pass expecting a level increase, only to find no such thing is included.
Of course, a Twitter response is hardly official in any sense. Exactly what Gearbox's plan is for Borderlands 2 is still up in the air -- nothing is written in stone. Though if there was a time to make your voices heard as to whether you expected a level increase in the season pass, now is that time. Otherwise there may be three or four more $10 DLC packs ahead you'll have to pick up just for the content you thought you'd purchased in your season pass.
Borderlands 2 is currently available for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Today actually marks the release of the Add-On Content Pack, which packages up $40 DLC for only $30, including the first three campaign DLC packs, the Mechromancer class and more. The fourth campaign DLC in the season pass has yet to be announced (or leaked).
