Gearbox Software has said Borderlands 2 features between 200 to 300 enemy types.
Lead AI programmer Jasper Foreman explained there are 15 to 20 separate enemies contained in Borderlands 2. However, each type features several variants, consequently seeing the sequel offering between 200-300 enemies. Foreman said he tried to count all of the types via a script, but due to the advanced descriptors attached to each enemy it was simply impossible to locate every enemy type.
Enemies have also become more smarter than they were in the original Borderlands. One of the enemy bots, for example, includes the Surveyors, which repair robots the player has damaged. Constructors, meanwhile, can create robots in the midst of fighting within the battlefield.
Borderlands 2 is scheduled for a release on September 18 in North America and three days later throughout Europe.
