Rethinking the conventions of Zelda

Although I can see a lack of dungeon order working, I do prefer having that structure and the excitement that accompanies it when I think about where I have to go next.

I've thought since SS came out that the upgrade system might become further developed in future LoZ titles. I rather like the feature in SS since it gives the items a bit more depth and helps in making the game a collector's dream by having to go around looking for the materials.

I know I should trust Nintendo on this, they have a proven track record I mean, but I am quite scared.

Though I do think SS and TP are, though absolutely brilliant, not as good as WW, MM, and OOT.

I can't make decisions for anyone else but it's probably going to be a must buy for me, at least I'm thinking atm.

Edit: I personally don't see it being MP.

Personally I think it's fantastic that the people behind the series realise its formula needs a re-think. While Skyward Sword did change things up a bit I didn't feel it was enough, with the first parts of the game still being a largely conventional Zelda adventure. No set dungeon order isn't new for the series but it'll be interesting to see how it'll work while still giving the player an idea of where to go. I have no idea what they mean by "playing by yourself" though. Aren't all Zelda games meant to be played alone? Or did they perhaps mean playing without any outside guidance or influence? Whatever the case, I'm really looking forward to Zelda WiiU now.

I don't think it was really a choice for Link since he wasn't a Kokiri, so wouldn't end up living forever even had he stayed in the forest. But that's another conversation for another time and place (1998 and on a dial-up internet connection).

I've never understood why people complain about parts of Zelda SS being like a Zelda game. Last time I checked, that's pretty much the highest compliment you can give a game. Its like complaining that the bottom of a triple scoop ice cream cone is chocolate.

They reinvented the battle system to make it far more engaging even ignoring the motion controls, and did a whole revamp of the overworld to make it far more engaging as well. All while telling a well executed story with interesting characters. It seems like the only "innovation" people want is for the game to change genres or rip off Grand Theft Auto, making it stand out by being the same as everyone else, I guess.

I also think the whole "Do the dungeons in any order" thing sounds better in theory than it would work in the actual game. It worked in the first game because the items were pretty generic and only had one or two uses in their own dungeon and overworld, and the puzzles were either "kill Everything", "Push Block", "Shoot something". To craft really interesting puzzles that actually use the items you have in interesting ways, you have to know when players would have them. Such as in SS, if you could get the beetle at different points each playthrough, you'd loose all the extra puzzles that made the item so much fun to use throughout the adventure. It end up just like the items in Twilight Princess, where the spinner and Ball and Chain were totally useless.

I know the truth about Link don't worry, but that I had a whole "mental saved hyper crossover fanfic" when I was a kid. I won't subject you to the torturingly conflated and badly constructed plots of "Young Colm", but lets just says I sidestepped that issue without making the dilema easier.
