Nintendo's Wii U at last launched in the UK last week and by Chart-Track's reckoning, consumers across the pond didn't see any value in saving money with the "Basic" flavor for the new console: the 32GB "Deluxe/Premium" model accounted for a decisive 90 percent of all Wii U hardware sales in the region during launch week.
The standalone release of Nintendo Land proved to the top-selling Wii U exclusive, just barely missing tenth place by landing in as the eleventh best-selling game in the UK for last week across all platforms, followed by New Super Mario Bros. U.
As with the Wii launch nearly six years ago, Ubisoft laid claim to being the most successful third party publisher on Nintendo's new platform. ZombiU was the best-selling third party Wii U game and on top of that, the special Wii U Premium bundles which included copies of ZombiU accounted for 30 percent of the total Wii U Premiums sold in the UK. To be sure, the Wii U wasn't the only thing Ubisoft was betting on last week and the publisher will certainly be pleased with the second place finish of Far Cry 3.
Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops II remained the title to beat for last week. Activision's top-selling multiplatform shooter didn't benefit from additional sales on Nintendo's new platform, as most of revenue is still coming from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
