If you've been digging the beta for MMO shooter Planetside 2 or just pining away, you should be interested to know the game will be getting performance improvements and an also an entire new continent soonish (as if there wasn't enough to see already).
The game runs pretty fine for me on a higher end machine, but those with lower specs may at less than ideal framerates. The improvements, it sounds like, will be aimed at those people. While there's only so much that can be done (this is a large scale MMO, after all), you should see notable differences going forward, particularly in the CPU and RAM departments.
The new continent is known as Esamir. Sony Online's John Smedley says it's getting close to release time for it, and is "very different gameplay wise". Once that's all finished up, they'll be getting to work on another continent known as Amerish.
The plan, he states, is to launch with two or three of the continents, depending how things go. It's good to hear Smedley and his team are putting polish above all else, and won't be launching the game before it's ready.
