So you can do a lot of horrible things to people in Dishonored, but nothing makes us realize how creepy rat possession and brutal assassinations are until children start singing about them. We're talking about "The Drunken Whaler," a song about killing someone in brutally creative ways.
It debuted an E3 Dishonored trailer, and now Bethesda has released the eerie tune as a free download. Sure, many real-life (Western) children's songs are also about morbid topics, such as the Black Plague, the Great Fire of London, or murdering sparrows. They're all much more subtle than "The Drunken Whaler," though, with its lines about slashing someone's throat with a rusty cleaver or feeding some poor guy to hungry rats for dinner.
Give it a listen. Make it your ringtone. If you fancy a chance to play Dishonored early, try entering the "Drunken Whaler" remix contest.
Dishonored will be out on October 9 in North America and October 12 in Europe. The soundtrack is a collaboration between Bethesda and COPILOT Strategic Music + Sound.
