At this point Arkane Studios has set expectations for their upcoming first-person assassination game, Dishonored, quite well, highlighting the creativity, the brutality, and the unending adreneline. It doesn't hurt then, to introduce the obviously depraved creative minds behind the project, and so Arkane has released a developer diary titled "Inception". Gain insight into Dishonored's design and development, and perhaps gain a level of respect for Arkane you might not have had before.
The game's obvious association with early 1900s London, as well as references to the plague and the great fire of London, make Dishonored's setting especially poignant. Despite the obvious supernatural elements of the game, there are many themes not so distanced from reality. It's haunting in many ways, the ideas of tyrancy, regicide, plague and the control surveyed by a police state. Arkane has spared no expense to ensure the best industry talent made Dishonored as good as it could be.
Dishonored is scheduled for release on October 9 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms.
