My Player mode - Page 2

Haha, well he's the starting shooting guard for the Suns. As a 3-point specialist, it makes it a lot easier, haha. He's got a 3PT FG% of about 50% (it was about 30% or so at the beginning of the season, and we've been getting him up), and we're in January of the season right now, so he has a few good months under his belt to rack of skill points to boost his stats a bit.

Started my own My Player last night and got drafted 8th by the Pistons. In 2k11 the guy that we had was also drafted by the Pistons, and Stuckey never gave him the ball enough (another 3-point specialist, putting up similar numbers to our current guy), and it seems as though Stuckey hates me in this one as well. I chose for him to be a point guard though, so usually he is subbed in at that position and I don't have to deal with Stuckey. When I'm in at the shooting guard though, I rarely see the ball, even if I was just making it rain while at the point guard spot! >____> I just finished my eighth game and I'm only averaging 19.9 pts/gm and 9.9 min/gm. I usually only get a few minutes out of each quarter, but I can use it to get off my share of shots, haha. Also averaging 1.4 stl/gm and 1.3 reb/gm, as I've had games where I've gotten 5+ in each category, and some games where I haven't gotten any, haha.

Definitely some poor decisions by the AI on My Player. One instance was with the clock winding down (about 7 seconds), and being down by two points, Grant Hill just stood in the corner, dribbling the ball. Didn't even attempt to shoot it, or pass it to me (being wide open on the wing). Just kept dribbling it, and time expired, resulting in a loss. Can't tell you how infuriated I was at that time. >___> Then just today with my own My Player on the Pistons, instead of giving it to me for the final shot, Rodney Stuckey decided to dribble it into traffic, and threw up a wild attempt to win the game. I was 11/16 on three-pointers, and chipped in a few other field goals as well. I clearly had the hot hand, and was open in the corner (and was making my way up the wing to meet him, calling for the ball). Instead the attempt misses, and we lose.

Just as well, when you're helping off on D (because when you have a match-up like Will Bynum on Lebron James, not helping off would just be cruel to ol' Bynum), and they kick it out to the guy on the other side of the court, he suddenly becomes your man and due to nobody rotating, he has a wide-open three which he easily drains for an Allow Man to Score penalty. I camp out to steal the inbound pass nearly every chance, and if I don't steal it, I get penalized for Bad Steal Attempt. Heck, I'll even tip it out of bounds and get the bonus for Tipped Pass, AND THEN penalized for Bad Steal Attempt. Same thing for blocked shots, and other areas that really just have me shaking my head. >___<

Still, with all of the areas that need worked on for 2k13, My Player mode is definitely an awesome mode to go through. Lot's of fun to be had, especially at things like Press Conferences, where you can be a cocky bastard and laugh when league-wide popularity and local fan support both rise (because for some reason they always love it, haha).

I don't have many complaints from AI errors yet. I used to rage at my ballhog point-guards last year (Nelson was pretty awful at organising, I guess Arenas was more justified to take shots), this year I haven't noticed much. It does sound like it's an area to work on from you guys' posts though.

I wasn't scoring 100 points with my 97 overall 2k11 player and you're scoring that with your rookie?!

I decided to follow Chad's example and make a third player, a selfish 3point specialist point guard!

My percentages are not great, but I've certainly had a better start than my previous two attempts. Drafted at No 7 by the Kings, been player of the game in my previous two matches and we have a 4-1 record so far so it looks promising! I'm focusing my skill points on Consistency, Stealing and Defensive Awareness. Three Point Shooting is getting too expensive and I can casually win that from Shooting drill. :>!
