That was an absolutely amazing two-parter - definitely my favourite two episodes of the entire series (yes, I liked them even more than The Return of Harmony). An excellent way to end off season 2.

I wonder how season 3 will begin?

You know what amazes me most about Friendship is Magic? It gives me a surreal feeling. During the 80s and 90s girls had stuff like this to watch:



Like most other boys of that time period, I hated stuff like that. And going to school with at least as many girls as there were guys, I was surrounded by merchandise featuring My Little Pony characters, logos, and locations. I had seen bits of episodes on TV in passing and was nothing short of revolted. Who would have thought that nearly twenty years later it would be completely reinvented, and that which I once hated with a passion would be - though in name only - my most beloved media franchise, and one that has deeply affected me and changed the lives of millions? Nothing short of surreal, in my experience. I still occasionally find myself laughing at the situation and feeling like it's day one. The novelty never wears off.

On a sadder note, I feel it necessary to predict something gloomy regarding this episode. I honestly felt that though the lesson spoken by Celestia at the end of this episode was true and valuable, it sounded thatched on in desperation to keep this episode from looking like pure entertainment with few moral implications. Possibly just because of her brief, last minute delivery. I don't know. My prediction is that, moral lesson aside, there are going to plenty of people (mothers of little girls and trolls to be specific) who will pounce on this episode for being too dark and violent for the show's supposed target demographic. The primary problems being the decayed, undead appearance of the changeling Queen, the mane six literally beating down some of the changelings (I'm still shocked by a punch that Rarity threw, it's so unlike her to get into scrap like that); and Twilight revealing she has some destructive capability with her magic by "shooting" some of the changelings and blowing away rock formations with ease. I hope nobody makes a scene over these things, of course, but don't surprised if angry letters get sent to Hasbro.

I was hoping that she would. She hasn't actually done anything so far, and for being an alicorn she should be very powerful and have a chance to use her abilities. At least they didn't use the Elements of Harmony again. They're cool and everything but they've saved the world twice with those things. Glad they went with something different this time.

Same here. Until this point my favorite was The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000. The music, the animation, the acting, the script itself; everything was fantastic beyond description. However, I inadvertently predicted this episode's entire plot in the FiM potential movie thread.

Indeed. For me, this year has passed very quickly so far. It feels to me like we should only be beginning March, yet here we are near the end of April, and no doubt that's largely due to my weeks revolving around MLP. As soon as one episode ends I'm looking forward to the next until it comes. As much as it's shortened my perception of time and thereby seemingly shortened my life, its enrichment of my life and many others far outweighs that side effect.

Also, I suppose my best year ever may have been 2011, the year I first found FiM, thanks largely to Daedric Prince. I had seen images and macros floating around but nobody had told me what they were from or anything until I came here.

Aye, that they have. I can't tell you how many people I've encountered on Reddit who's lives have been completely transformed, and how many lives it's possibly saved. Some seriously depressed people have been on the edge of suicide from what I've read, and Friendship is Magic has kept them from it and turned their lives around. FiM has an incomparable team of writers and animators, and Lauren Faust's legacy will undoubtedly far outlive her.

My bad. That was her name in the script, and apparently revealed by some members of the production staff at some point in history, but never spoken within the episode.
