I would entrust anything to her so long as it isn't animate. Fluttershy can transport all those fish in the aquarium section and we can cram the rest in Derpy's saddle bags.


Some guy I know said he needed a new hard drive (how he determined that, I have no idea) for his Dell that he bought in 2001. He said he would buy a new computer but he couldn't afford one. It's truly shocking to me that somebody can't go to Walmart and drop $400 for an eMachines computer that would far outclass their old one after 11 years. Eleven years and he still can't afford a new machine.

So he installs the hard drive (it's a miracle that he figured out how, or that he was able to find an IDE drive anywhere) and when he tried to install some piece of software he was told he needed XP service pack 3. Not bothering to read the instructions on how to download service pack 3 he simply decided to take it to Geek Squad. The cost of a retail hard drive and Geek Squad's services will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of A NEW MACHINE.

Somebody who has only been a student here for 19 days has printed 27 reams of paper. Somebody else who has been here 22 days has almost printed as much. What's with this? Can't they look at documents on their computer instead of on paper?

No. I love helping people out with stuff but I've been so burned out lately by work and given the same speech to many people recently about cost of repair vs. cost of replacement and how much they're getting burned at places like Geek Squad that I don't have the energy at the moment.

We do that too but when somebody comes by and says they've hit their quota for the month we just reset it. It costs us (IT) nothing. We don't mind, we just find it fascinating how much paper they manage to use in so little time. They're allowed 200 pages a month.

I was mistaken about it being a student, however. She's faculty, and they don't have a quota.


edit: I'm going to McDonald's for a frappe. Several times in the past four minutes I've almost lost consciousness.
