EveryPony's Ideas

considering that ive seen a few ideas thrown out already (some already going well), i think its time that we had a central location in which to post and discuss ideas, as well as show upcoming events (forum or otherwise), and list any features or suggestions underway.

im hoping this thread can act as a to-do list of sorts, with everything in a list that regular members can, if they so wish, try to do themselves. obviously certain things can only be done by mods, but until we get a mod, it can act as an organised area to help our future mod with organisation.

so go on, throw your ideas out there (or PM if you are fluttershy) and i will edit them in to this post.

ahh i didnt want to do it because of the other names in the thread, but w/e. you want professional, so here ya go.

I made one of these threads in a new non-modded forum before. I thought about making it on day one when the forum opened. Things were already getting done because we had so many moderator and proactive members activly participating in the forum that I thought it wasn't required at the time. It at least was redundant to have this thread.

The title RFS is specific in nautre and it is key to make it clear that is what this thread is for.
Requests, Feedback, and Suggestions: Everypony's Ideas is my suggestion for the type of compromise or customization that still makes it clear what the purpose of this thread is and gives a style or flair to the forum. IDK what the original title of the thread was because it is gone. However, I at least partialy agree with Kaiba and maybe would fully if I knew what the original title was.

I think you're trying to cram too much into one thread. RFS threads are typically stand-alone.

Also, "Events and To-Do" are few and tend to coincide. And even the events that do happen, you hardly need a thread to tell you about it, I think. A link in the header is more like it.

An example of an RFS is suggesting a header or a header contest. Placing aditional stuff in the OP or name of the thread doesn't accomplish anything. It is tidy and without presumption avoid listing everything that could possibly be suggested in the OP or title. Why complicate things or waist pixels? They don't grow on trees you know.

In Request, Feedback, and Suggestion/Announcement hybrid threads this category works for a mod who intends to place it there to avoid people suggesting or in a responce to peoples suggestions. With no designated mod there isn't any reason we need an announcement portion imo. We have a news thread someplace an that works just fine as announcements go and the only time a member should be announcing things, unless the mod in charge deligates the responcibility.

This is a good idea. We are working to get things done without an offical mod. Keeping things organized like Twilight sparkle is the only way we will get the spring to come or our forum to grow in the proper way. The key to working without a mod is every pony doing what they can together. Then together we can approach a section or super mod with this stuff already resolved. Of corse it helps to have tons of mods already involved in the show to help with that sort of thing, but the same still applies. This seems like something you can accomplish rather well. You are active in the community and have an open door policy. I have no doubt you could keep this up to date.

I suggest changing it to Features in progress as of <date> when you edit features in or out of that category.
Upon compleation of features you could move them to a compleated section or recently compleated section. With small amounts of suggestions or features being updated this won't have a significant impact on the size of the thread and can surve as an announcement that the feature is done. Old ones can be removed or spoilered as administratively desired for posterity or tidyness.

Typo that I fixed. It is a title so as far as grammar goes it would also be capitolized because it isn't a word like and, or, etc.

It was "RFS, To-Do, & Events Thread".

Without a mod there is some validity to that sort of thinking. He is doing what Twilight sparkle did as far as bringing the team together in an organized fasion. So a list of progress is a good thing to happen as PART of the suggestions. RFS & progress on suggestions is what the thread is about.

RFS & Progress: Everypony's Ideas is fine too. It does look like he intends to keep the progress report up to date. Showing the additional perk or feature is just fine.

I have our Index completed, I'm just waiting on releasing it because we only have only 2 pages worth of threads. I was going to wait until we had 3 pages or more to release it.


And, We can shorten the title by making it: "My Little Pony RFS: Everypony's Ideas" with Requests / Feedback / Suggestions in the custom title section. Always a suggestion.

i only put that suggestion in as a starter. i agree with you that we dont have THAT much to warrant an index, though i can definitely see all the character threads being a part of the index. it would also make things easier, if and when people start making more character threads for the lesser ponies (who knows, someone might want to do a derpy thread), or and potential new ponies in season 2.

if, however, you have 15 or so links already, i think its alright to post it now. we just need someone to sticky it.


also, i made this thread in a bit of a hurry, so sorry for not thinking it through enough.

LW: speaking of organising, i suggest you make anchors now, rather than later. also, in the off chance that we dont get a mod, it means it will be left up to you to update the thread as necessary. keep that in mind in case you would rather someone else have ownership of the thread.

if there is a problem of multiple threads belonging to multiple categories, i think the best option would be to place it under the most relevant category, and then add keywords which people can find with ctrl + f. i remember another forum index doing it...i dont remember which one, or i would have linked the thread as an example.

There's most probably going to be a promotion, we're just weighing our choices while the PPD settles after the first few days. ;>
