Why can't anyone do PK's?

Yesterday afternoon I was playing a Cup game in H2H seasons, and after conceding a few goals out of idiocy I found myself in a 3-3 draw, leading to PK's to decide the match. He was up first, and blasted it way over the bar. My turn I slipped up and shot it directly at him (didn't move over the analog stick as much as I should have, so it didn't go anywhere). His turn, once again, way over the bar. Next was me, and I buried it in the corner. Him again, this time he hits it directly at me. Next was me, another easy goal in the corner. His final shot, do or die, and he hits it directly at me again, giving me the victory.

This guy was stuck with the same two options that everyone seems to have that I've faced in PK's. Both friends, random people I've hung out with, and now people online. They either blast it way over the bar, or shoot it directly at me. I have almost no trouble at all getting the ball where I want it to go and as such I still haven't lost in penalties. It's almost unfair though, because nobody else seems to know how to properly take a PK. I've tried to teach my friends but they just can't seem to get it down (as ridiculously easy as they are =\).

Anyone else run into this trouble? Are you one of the apparent few that can take a PK?

I like the penalty's this year. I always get it on target, but the GK might save it, I always put it where the GK finds it hardest to dive.

I don't really have that much trouble, everyone i play against, the vast majority just being my mates; take them pretty well, but they always seem to be easier to save the when i play against the xbox, likewise with taking them, i score much less against the xbox.

I have noticed my friend sticks his PK in the middle or right, never left. When im saving, I tend to dive right more, dont know why.

Opposite for me, I always go left and when I go right it gets saved most of the time.

Wow, I'm glad that more people actually know how to do it. Yeah, I had no problem in FIFA 11 or 12 on penalties, but everyone else I'm around struggles with them, haha. I tend to go left more than right, for whatever reason.

hardlycrazy - True, but it was actually harder for me than him. He rarely sprinted, and like I said, the goals I did concede were due to my own stupidity (I enjoy passing it back to my goalie and seeing if I can go score with him, haha -- he got two this way, and his third was off me passing it around in front of my goal, which Ronaldo easily picked off). Meanwhile, I never let go of the sprint button and was constantly having the players I wasn't controlling sprinting as well, double-teaming and bringing pressure whenever I could. By the time penalties rolled around, the bar was moving pretty quickly back and forth.
