As there is no interest in SOMS's and I don't have live, I'm buggered. Hope the forum goes well regardless.

Appreciate all the suggestions guys, will do my best to address them and see what we can do to get the best out of the forum.

No SOMS. They're utterly loserish and only generate arguments from children who're angry that nobody cares about who they sign with Man City. This isn't FM.

Seperate UT forum. Worked in the last two and will work this year too. Should keep this forum tidy.

Established online tournaments. Something with only regulars (I don't care if it's harsh, but last year there were idiots like Jamesy joining up and then *bleep*ing off after a week) as they'll get the job done like MM and Sweeney I think it was Online and Offline fantasy league thingy in Fifa 10.

Basically, give people a reason to post in here. Past the first two weeks the 11 forum died (as I predicted) because of a lack of reasons to post and a poor mod team, 10 lasted for ages because of the competitions and 09 lasted for ages because of clubs discussions.

This is directed at LegendaryLegend and Wilbz too, no point quoting you all.

Understand your feelings towards SOMS threads but there is a lot of people who enjoy doing them and although some are of poor quality, we get some decent SOMS's from time to time. Rune Ripper's SOMS being a prime example of the kind of quality we can get. Certainly wouldn't want to put a ban on them and stop the guys who enjoy doing them from at least having a go at it. I would like to have the SOMS's in a separate sub-forum (that way, it'd be out your way and wouldn't have to bother with them) but the activity for it wouldn't really allow it.

Spoken to Lone about getting the Ultimate Team sub-forum created and hopefully should be done in time for the release of the game. Totally agree we don't need the clutter that can occur from UT in the main forum.

I'll be looking to create and run online tournaments myself and would also appreciate any of the established members with a track record of creating comps too. Probably look into having a league exclusive to regular forum members and a separate one for newer members and if they show they're in it for the long run, could feature in a future established member tournament.

Will be encouraging everything that boosts good activity, which is mainly leagues, tournaments and fantasy draft games. Would like to see if we can get solid Clubs teams for both consoles going, just need to plan it out accordingly and hope that we get the participation for these things that we all want.

Hmm, the idea of SOMS's is okay. Just had a look at Rune Ripper's and his looks well written and is very well presented. Problem is that a lot of them are just shite and look a complete mess.

And I can't see clubs teams working out either. There's differences between some members being good and some being terrible. Then you've got the fact that loads always rush to the striker positions and people with like 3 posts wanting to join a team. They'll start off with most joining but then again soon enough, the better players will leave and form their own club 'cos they can't be arsed with the shit team mates anymore.

I agree with the suggestions, a UT sub-forum and a strict policy on Soms, as most do go to pot, and a new one is created the same day, only for that to be scrapped.

There's enough ideas for competitions, online leagues, knockout tournaments, draft leagues etc, it's getting people that won't sign up and then fo, but actually stick it out.

I think before there was the desperation for activity in the dying Fifa 11 forum the Soms worked well in the Career thread, and then if there was somebody who was getting enough attention maybe then consider giving them their own thread? I don't really care if that Rockstar99 is going to sign Dani Alves for Man City but I might give someone elses a read if they're trying to build a team full of players beginning with A.

As for online, given interest usually dies down after a few weeks, would it be worth running an online cup competition at first, and then after that leave an online league running (Like I think we had in the PES 2008 forum) meaning there's no requirements from nubs to actually stay around and play.

Restricting SOMS to the Career thread and allowing dedicated and enthusiastic members the chance to earn their own SOMS thread, might possibly be the best solution to this. Definitely something to mull over between now and the release of the game.

As for having a tournament straight away is probably the best way to ensure activity and completion of the tournament. Hopefully set the standard for activity and participation for any following tournaments.

I'd say give it a few weeks before setting up a league and we'd have a rough idea of who is reliable. Then we wouldn't just have to trust people when they say they want to take part only for them to disappear for weeks and then moan about us not waiting for them or for replacing them.

How to the leagues work, while I'm at it. Would we just pick from a list of teams and stick with them for the whole thing, or get them randomly assigned to us?
