Next Super Smash Bros. Details Surface?

Developer came out today saying not to expect any news about the game for quite some time

Some previous rumours indicate that SSB4 may not introduce any new characters to the Smash Bros universe at all, only a reiteration of previous characters.

Most of these are pretty safe guesses for possible newcomers, with a few oddballs thrown in. I really doubt there is an inside source at work to get these, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them come true.

Dragoon, that rumor came from an interview statement in which Sakurai said he did not want to have a giant roster size. It was then taken far out of context and blown way out of proportion by the internet. He later confirmed that he is indeed working on new characters for the game.

Apparently this all stems from something posted on GameFaqs here as something the poster had "come across via Bandai-Namco Employees", which another way of saying it's bullshit.

Very interesting he would call Mother characters "eastern", condiering all three games take place in a very westernised setting (Mother 3 has a bit more sci-fi/fantasy but it's still very western). My thoughts are this guy does not live in Japan working for Namco Bandai and all he know about Mother is that 2/3 of the games were Japan-only and thus assumes they contained "eastern" character, when in reality Ness is no more eastern than Little Mac; both being from games made in Japan but set in the West.

yeah doesn't sound that believable,shulk,dillo and ghirahim are popular choices among fan rosters,but since they have only one appearance,their chances are rathr low(especially dillo),the same goes for some new yoshi character.

Ness? Ice Climbers? Dr. Mario? One-time characters are all over Smash Bros. In Melee we even got Roy, who had been in a total of zero other games up until that point. I don't think it really makes a difference as long as the character is important enough in the Nintendo canon and makes sense in a fighting game.

these are different cases:
-Ness is from a video game series which doesn't have recurring characters at all,at least no protagonists,so there is simply no other choice than to use a character who appeared only once.

-Ice climbers are retro characters and their whole series consists of only one game.

-dr.mario appeared in more than one game(dr.mario,Dr.mario64)

-Roy was in the game as an advertisement and a cheap clone,nearly none of these characters are able to advertise anything anymore in the same way,since their games already appeared,aside from the rumored yoshi character of course,but since they want to go for quality this time,I doubt they'll waste a spot for a character as an advertisement again
