Assist Trophy characters

Well-picked selection! But I wonder why you didn't mention the functions for any... Some were characters that appeared already. (i.e. Waluigi and Kat & Ana.) Nevertheless, I must thank you, GaTheZakk, 'cause you inspired me to unveil my own selection!

*Zip (FlingSmash): He zooms around the stage, reflecting off the screen sides. Characters he contacts get damaged. Sometimes he'll split or grow big when he appears, and sometimes fireworks blow when he zooms around! Do I really need to elucidate upon the damage the fireworks will do?

*Cotrangl (Etrian Odyssey): Cotrangl's this huge manta ray from Etrian Odyssey. All I can really say at this point is that he'll use wind and water-based attacks.

*Sanaki (Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn): Sanaki'll use her Cymbeline spell, which apart from doing damage, may jam opponents into the ground.

*Trashure (Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story): You know that lock on the Trashure enemy? Well, it'll open this treasure chest-like foe, and start tossing things. Like in the origin game, some things are helpful, others... well, not so much.

*Nabbit (New Super Mario Bros. U): (...Jeez, what a stupid addition... well, if you're gonna go along with it...) Nabbit will take items on the stage, and stash them in his sack. He can even steal items held by opponents (even hammers and golden hammers, along with badges and bunny hoods)! Hit him, and he may drop his stolen loot, allowing you to grab them!

*Dark Monita (Nintendo Land): Dark Monita'll pilot that contraption seen in the Pikmin attraction in Nintendo Land. Just so you know, it drops... harmful things.

*Thundercloud (Mario Kart Wii): This'll appear overhead your character if it comes out. Just like in the origin game, it'll charge lightning. If it juices enough, it'll zap you, doing moderate damage and yes, shrinks you. But, on the bright side, the cloud can be passed to another player by touching him/her. Do that... before the cloud zaps you.

*Rafiel/Reyson/Leanne (Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn): Either one of these herons may appear at any one time, but they all perform the same functions, which is galdrar singing. Depending on the galdrar, a positive effect could happen to you, or a negative effect could happen to any one opponent or multiple opponents.

*Charon (Golden Sun: The Lost Age): Charon, a GS:TLA summon, sends a huge dark wave of energy washing over just about the whole stage. It is nearly unescapable, and the wave does lethal damage to foe(s) as it washes over them. Unlucky? An instant K.O. is all but assured.

Whew... That's quite a long list... but that's my assist trophy list!

How about replacing Golden Sun assist trophies with collectable Djinn? Like how the Dragoon works where parts drop in the middle of the fight, there would be Djinn dropping on the stage. And the player could decide if he wants to use his Djinn for a weaker summon, or risk holding on to them and collect more to do stronger summons.
For example a player collected 2 Earth djinn. He can use 2 Earth djinn to summon Ramses.
Or he can decide to wait for more djinn to spawn. So if he gets 4 Earth djinn he would be able to summon Judgment.

Although I think it would be too much work to put a system like that in place, not to mention summons would become a pretty major part of matches. Still, something cool to think about it.

Hmm... if such a system was put in place, most of the summons will have to be in the game. And if such a system was put in place, it'll mean Djinn summons get to be everyone's Final Smashes. Perhaps it'll be better if one Djinni from each element featured, with each different element doing a different function. Say, does anyone recall the Star Magician boss from Golden Sun: The Lost Age? Then we must be familiar with those balls he enlists to fight. Perhaps the Djinn functions could be drawn from them; Earth boosts your character's defense, Water recovers damage taken, Fire boosts attack and the Djinni could sometimes explode, and Wind gives your character thunder attribute to your character's physical moves, and the respective djinni can sometimes attack with wind moves.

Also there is the question how you'd activate the djinn

There are many but I'll just name a few, Kritter, Dixie Kong, Boomerang Bro, and maybe Funky Kong.
