Fanmade Replicas and other Similar Titles

Super Smash bros, my favorite series. An amalgamation of my youth fanboy characters wrapped with innovation in my favorite genre.

But its fading. While I do still see Sakurai slowly stepping away from the light,the marketing for Games in general vastly changing, and a certain SSB5 and beyond- the games are mostly the same.

The mechanics change slightly, the characters are a bit different sometimes- but in general, the game is rooted in what it has already done.

On one side, this is great- successful in the past, why change just to change?
Then again, tons of fighting style games do. Mortal Kombat has entirely different mechanics with each game it releases, and only because of this every continuing search did they realize their amazing potential with their most recent game (compare MK9 to Armageddon. What a difference).

I'd like to continue to fight as my favorite Nintendo characters- but I want true variety. It's a shame nintendo will probably not capitalize on this more; for example, there is no real reason there couldnt be multiple games on a nintendo platform that feature fighting (or other genres) of mass crossover play.
It may impede the sales of SSB slightly, but it would boast a much stronger competition, fan service, and may even launch a new genre of crossover play freedom.

So my point, with so many independent developers, does anyone know of any good SSB-esque games online which could fill this niche a bit better? I dont mean just a flash version of a game already out but with Megaman and Sonic*cough*. I mean, an actually different game following the best principles of SSB.

Thanks guys. Im sure if not, more will be around soon. SSB4 will inevitably disappoint some people, if not for being 7 years away, and with popularity for self made games skyrocketing, there has got to be a good choice or two.

Jump Superstars kind of sucks and here's why

I think Goku sucks, Vegeta is way cooler than Goku.

If Goku in that they better have Vegeta because Vegeta is alot better than Kakarot will ever be, he's the prince of all Saiyans!

Naruto, really?

Those Naruto characters suck, I like Gaara, Ino Yamanaka and Orochimaru

Why not put Byakura Kuchiki or Eison or Sosuke Aizen in?

No L from Deathnote, now that sucks

No Full Metal Alchemist characters in this

Pride and Envy would of been awesome

Pride is the coolest

Forget the Elric brothers, just have Envy transform into them because he can impersonate anybody and that dragon he turns into is awesome

Instead of Yugi Moto it should have been a duel monster like Blue Eyes or Dark Magician

For the Yu yu Hakashu where was Kurama?

That game had poor character choices and hopefully they will nevr make another one

Sonic Battle on the GBA was a SSB clone

What does this have to do with Super Smash Bros 4?

Super Smash Flash is a well-known fan made game.

And while the roster is massive, I'd recommend that you just give it a pass. The gameplay and physics and mechanics are god-awful.

It's a decent flash game with a lot of interesting characters.

The game Battle Stadium D.O.N (Dragonball Z, One Piece, and Naruto) reminds me of Smash Bros. It's some of the characters from those games fighting, and you can use supers, etc.

The game is import only ofc, but it was fun. My dad got it for me when I was younger for Gamecube off of some site. I played it a couple of times and it was pretty fun, I might play it again sometime. Of course I couldn't read the Japanese, but still.

Also, Play Station All Stars could have a ton of characters tbh. I think they confirmed something about adding stock in as DLC, which would be amazing. I think I'd like PS All Stars a lot more than Brawl or just equally then. I'm still going to love it though, obtaining kills bullshit or not. I grew up with Sony characters too.

But the stock thing could be a rumor unfortunately. ;___;'
