SSB4 May Not Feature New Characters - Page 3

What I was trying to say was that while zant was the main villain in the game for awhile, ganondorf was behind the whole thing and ganondorf is more important to the series as a whole so the choice of who is going to be in brawl was pretty obvious. In ss the whole "ganon is the embodyment of evil" thing was thrown out of the window and giriham could be the new villian of loz for ssb. Its all my opninon though I just think that because giriham is pretty popular (according to what I read in the internet) that theres a pretty high possibility for his appearance as a playable character. Of course I could be wrong and no new character could come at all (according to the first post).

Seriously DLC is a hard thing for me, I don't have that kind of access, I don't know how to hook anything up, I'm not signing up for some stupid internet account like PSN, QR codes using the 3ds would be a good alternative method for DLC, if they have anything DLC, could they release with two methods?]

Why not just do the QR method?
The QR method is so easy, did you ever try it on Mario Tennis Open, it's easy a character code is posted, scan it, done.

QR Codes can't handle hardly any data. The only way they could sell DLC with QR Codes is if the QR Codes act as activators for content already on the cartridge/disc.

I'm sure if they did do a large number of DLC characters they would eventually release a "master edition" a year or so later with all DLC already on the disc for those without broadband access.

Yes, but that's only if they decide to go that route.

If Sakurai and Namco Bandai are truly going in the direction that was a possibility (few/no new characters with the release and focusing on quality of gameplay and story and everything), then they would have to delay the game for quite a while. Yes, I know there isn't even a set year that the game is to be released, but there's no doubt that if that is indeed what they're doing, then including all of the characters that would be planned to be DLC would increase the wait for the game's release.

I doubt Sakurai won't add any new characters in, but I also don't expect him to add in 20. That's where the DLC comes in. If he plans on adding in a character but doesn't have the time to do so, that character can later be released via DLC, especially if it's one of those fan-favorite characters that many want to see included, and if he/she isn't added, those people complain for the next 2 years.

Companies use the process of DLC for two main reasons. 1. So they can add more to the game and still have it come out as soon as possible without having to delay the release due to adding things in (although these things would mainly (probably) be just characters or stages (in SSB's case)), and 2. So they can get feedback on the game once it's released to the public and decide what else to include. I'm not saying these are the only reasons DLC is used. I know companies have their own reasons and such. I'm just saying that these two reasons generally sum it up. DLC is also used to keep fans interested in the game over a long period of time, so they don't lose interest and get to expect new content being added from time to time, which increases their playtime and keeps them hooked on the game for longer than usual.

GATheZakk, without using DLC (which is not even confirmed for this game as of now), instead of only waiting a couple of months for, let's say a character that everyone wants but wasn't able to be included in the original copy of the game, fans would have to wait until the next title in the series, if there even was to be one. SSBB was released in 2008, and its sequel was only announced last year, and to this day, more than a year later, we only have a tidbit of information relating to the game. The gap between Melee and Brawl was 7 years, and the gap between Brawl and SSB4 is leading to be around the same timespan (maybe only 5 or 6 years, but it's still a long time to wait). There was no DLC in Brawl, and all of those fans who wanted, say Ridley, to be a playable character in an SSB title, knew they would have to wait until at least the next title, maybe even longer. There were characters that Sakurai took out of Brawl (for reasons I do not know; they could be known by others, look it up if you will), and if they were taken out because of time issues, DLC could have solved that problem. I know some of the removed characters were ones that fans would have liked to see, so that would have made everybody happy.

Also, DLC really isn't hard to obtain at all. You have an internet connection (correct me if I'm mistaken), and I don't see that the Wii U won't have wireless connection (since the Wii did), so all you need to do is set up connection on the Wii U and purchase points or whatever system they decide to use. Nintendo is a family-friendly company and makes everything simple on their consoles, so setup should be fairly simple. Heck, on the Wii Shop channel, you could purchase points wirelessly as long as you had a credit card with you.

There will be no DLC!!

GaTheZakk you just don't want DLC because you're too lazy to take 10 minutes to figure out how to do it. If it even takes 10 minutes.

It's really simple and a great idea if Nintendo does do it because it's what fans have been wanting for years so if they can finally pick up on it, then there's some more potential to be added to the success of the game (as if it won't be amazing already ).
