And DK doesn't appear that often in mario games,he is even less often playable than wario(since some mario party games do not have him as a character anymore),he has his own series(which is quite successful) Last but not least it doesn't even matter that you would count them as mario characters,because the smash bros series doesn't,so there is no point in saying "but the mario series has already too many characters,because of yoshi and co"because the developers don't see it that way. About cross gen trainer: I think that bayleef may also be a possible grass representive alongside oshawott and charizard for a cross gen trainer,since it has some similarities with ivysaur,so you could give it some moves from ivysaur(vine whip and razor leaf to be specific,maybe bullet seed in a different fashion)

	Less often playable, yes, but not less used. Also, I think that a cross gen trainer would more likely include a Hoenn rep, so either Grovyle or Treecko. 	I would like a cross gen trainer, that way they could include all the trainers. I would like to play as Hilda when playing as Oshowott, and I definately want to play as May from the 3rd gen, therefore they need to include all the female trainers with the trainer choices. Could the Pokemon set change depending on the trainer gen you're playing as or will all the sets have to have the same set? I definately want to play as Leaf. Also maybe put Ash in as Pikachu's trainer. I don't know who could be Jigglypuff's trainer If Zoroark's put in, maybe he could have N as his trainer If Lucario returns, maybe Cynthia could be his trainer Mewtwo should be put in, but he'd be the only pokemon I'd see without a trainer The Pokemon Trainer should get Oshawott, Servine and Emboar, but what I want to know is could they change this set based off the gen of the trainer you're playing as? ------------------- Agatio, The Evil King

	The Pokemon shouldn't have trainers, except Red's Pokemon. It would be too distracting. They shouldn't put in all the trainers and definitely not Ash. Ash is an anime character, not a video game character. Smash should never put in anime characters in as a playable character. Why do they need to put in all the female characters? There is no point. If they put a female trainer, I think it would be Rosa, because she's from the latest Pokemon game. No female trainer is iconic, so they should put in the latest trainer. 	To be perfectly honest, GaTheZakk's choices for the pokemon cast seems more understandable. Just think about it. Nintendo usually likes to follow up a game by using the same basic guidelines and structures, then adding to it to put in an extra kick. Oshawott, Servine, and Emboar are the same types and in the same evolution as the other ones(Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard). I think these three pokemon will be wrapped into one under the character "Hilda", and of course you can pick one on-screen before a battle instead of randomly being assigned one. Also, the Zoroark decision would also be pretty spot on, seeing as how many people compare Zoroark to Lucario. So, why not replace Lucario for Zoroark and let the fans settle their disputes? And of course theirs Pikachu still and then another pokemon. ANY other pokemon besides Jigglypuff. Please?

And I guess if Pikachu can lift bulky and two-handed items, then I have no reason to claim Oshawott can't do the same. Although I doubt it could pull it off in the manner Pikachu does it. And speaking of Final Smashes, Hydro Pump was already taken (Squirtle). All the more powerful Water-Type moves (eg: Hydro Cannon and Water Spout) are moves it cannot be able to learn. Best possible guess? Surf, maybe. And I guess I should be thankful for one thing... the fact that the thread was called "Reasons why Oshawott should be in SSB4", instead of "Reasons why Oshawott should be a playable character in SSB4". (Perhaps to a degree, but happier than if Oshawott was some background stage effect or a viewable trophy or sticker). I don't care what anyone says, I still believe Dewott fits more as controllable than Oshawott may ever be. Dewott does have two scalchops, as opposed to Oshawott who has one. Those scalchops identify the Pokémon, and if I'm to suggest a Final Smash function for Dewott, perhaps it could use both its scalchops to thrash an opponent. And again, if some people feel Pokémon should be controllable in the game because they're "cute"... then all I can say is "Oh my..." If that was the case, then Pokémon like Clefairy, Bellossom, Ralts and Pachirisu could have been playable long before any of the previous 3 Smash Bros.! Maybe we haven't been seeing a resurgence of these cuties, because it's either they're not popular examples of Pokémon, or Sakurai is oblivious to their potential. Now to end my post and wonder why Sugimori-san designed Samurott as a 4-legged Pokémon instead of a 2-legged one...

Well but what about a cross-gen-trainer?I mean in that case they would throw out squirtle,which would solve the problem. Even if they were to give us a complete 5th-gen-trainer alongside the first-gen trainer,they could give that trainer simply a legendary pokemon as a final smash instead of a certain move. Also there is hydro cannon a move exclusively to water starters,sure it can only be teached to fully evolved starters,but there have been unevolved starters to know this move

And please (with extra cheese) consider getting a dictionary or encyclopedia; is there any bookstore or library that'll claim not to have one? And should Oshawott feature as a solo Pokémon or a Pokémon on a team commanded by a gen-trainer? Because Oshawott as a standalone player was the reason of this thread's creation... then came the mentioning of pairing it up with other Pokémon, and then Pokémon from previous generations. Seriously, I originally thought this thread revolved around Oshawott only...

How about that? I agree with Swampasaur,that none of these guys are really important to the pokemon franchise as a whole. Also the pokemon you chose aren't the best choice,I mean they are after all 2 dark and 2 ghost pokemon among them(and I can't imagine kryppuk as a character)

Steven is much more important than Wallace. well you could argue about that since steven was an optional boss in emerald,but i think steven and wallace aren't as important as the other ones,Swampasaur mentioned. I think we could also add Giovanni and maybe even Ghetsis to the list of important human pokemon characters,since ghetsis is the main villain in two games and giovanni is the most recurring main enemy.
