I still would put Bowser Jr. as the most unique possibility from the Mario series(besides Geno) but Toad would be second with the set that Veggi posted.

Paper Mario moveset!

Similar strength to Mario's, maybe a bit higher with slower running speed and jumping ability being in-between Mario and Luigi. Very lightweight and a slow faller due to being made out of paper. Attacks with standard punches and Hammer but no fire-based moves. He has trouble launching his foes very far due to little knockback in most of his attacks.

B: Super Hammer. Standard charge-up move. PM twists his body for the duration the button is held while holding the Hammer horizontally. The longer it's charged, the more spins PM will do. The damage is constant no matter how long it's charged but the knockback and chances to attack increase. Probably the move with the highest knockback.

Up B: Spring Jump. PM folds his body and jumps nearly straight up, heavily damaging anyone in his path. On his way down, he can perform a Power Bounce if he lands on someone, causing damage with each stomp. However, this doesn't cause flinching so the character being attacked could easily counter and move away, making this difficult to pull off effectively.

Down B: Quick Change. Using Knukles Da Echidna's idea, PM swaps the partner to be used for his Side B and certain standard and smash attacks. I'm thinking of an even 2 per game excluding SPM, but since Paper Mario 3DS hasn't come out I'm gonna use 3 from the original and TTYD. The order goes: Bombette -> Parakarry -> Watt -> Koops -> Flurry -> Vivian then back to (meant to say) Bombette. Starting partner can be changed on character select screen.

Side B: Partner Attack.

1. Bombette: PM throws her who then walks forward before exploding.
2. Parakarry: Performs Shell Shot. A cursor appears dictating the direction of the attack.
3. Watt: She surges forward and emits a bright light, dizzying nearby characters.
4. Koops: Performs Shell Shield, protecting PM from attacks until a certain amount of damage has been dealt.
5. Flurry: Blows a gale force wind, pushing characters away while forcing them to trip.
6. Vivian: First she pulls PM into the shadows who then pop-up in front of a nearby character and performs Shade Fist, causing fiery damage and good knockback.

Final Smash: Supernova. The 7 Crystal Stars rain down and cut lines through the stage, paralyzing anybody who gets a line drawn through them. Explosions occur within any shapes drawn, heavily damaging characters and causing high vertical knockback.

First time making a serious moveset so suggestions are welcome.

On the Koopalings, they would make an interesting AT because doing Pokemon Trainer thing for them would still require animations and movesets for 7 different characters. Plus, I don't think many people would appreciate the Mario series getting that many.

Since most of the characters retained the same Special moves throughout each game, Peach will have Toad as one of her specials. Yers, Toad would be an interesting addition, but no other character has any interaction with another that does not appear in another way in the game. For example;

Link and the Fairy in his taunt. Fairies do not appear aside from his taunt.
Peach's Toad. Toad does not appear as an Assist Trophy or item.

Since Peach has toad, it wouldn't make sense to pull out a Toad against a Toad. And SSBM and SSBB established Toad as a personal shield for Peach, in order for Toad to appear playable, they'd have to take Toad away from peach's moveset.

Too much trouble, and Nintendo(and everyone involved with the Smash Bros Games) is notoriously lazy for reusing moves from previous games along with characters and animations, and giving them slight alterations to their movesets and calling it "revamped".

Again, I have no problem if Toad did get in, but Peach makes it highly unlikely.

Unless they add in a unique Toad, like Toadette or Toadsworth. A basic garden Toad won't make it in, I can guarantee it as I did during Brawl's release, but a unique Toad may just be possible.

I admit that I believe Peach's neutral special hurts his chances, but Toad did appear running around in the background of the first stage in SSBM's adventure mode. Special Moves can definitely change, but I'll admit it's unlikely.

In other news, I'm all for Bowser Jr. as a character. He's definitely important and unique enough. If he does get in I want to see some bullet bills as part of his moveset. I don't believe his Shadow Mario form is good enough to be a Final Smash though. From what I remember it just gives him Mario's athletic ability and appearance.

You know what? I'm making a Marisa set.

Even if her chances of making it are slim, I think I'll particularly enjoy thinking about how she would play.

That Paper Mario moveset is pretty good.

I wouldn't mind if they did a Koopalings character and had each of them as an alt costume but the voice would be more of a males because 6 of the 7 are males. Wendy would sound bad.
