Possible New Characters - Page 13

I would absolutely love to see Mewtwo possibly return in this installment.

Always preferred Lucario over Mewtwo. Mewtwo ended up being my punching bag in Melee. But I wouldn't object to him returning for a face off against Lucario.

Zoroark is a given for 5th gen.


Lucario was the poster child for 4th gen and got in, so I can easily see them adding Zoroark as 5th gen's poster child.

I can sense some intense responses that I will have whenever I decide to scroll through those 13 pages.


In the mean time, rather than just reposting an incredibly detailed list I made for Brawl, I will add a few characters I believe downright deserve to be in.

As my signature suggests, the following seven characters:

-Tom Nook (or any representation of animal crossing)
-Balloon Fighter (though this may be waning, so many years later)
-Ridley
-King K. Rool
-Krystal
-Toad
-Isaac

I would love for Mewtwo to return (and no other cut characters), though I would also be fond of Meowth being playable. Adding Cooking Mama (or just, Mama, of all the games) would be very fun and unexpected. If Toon Link is going to stay, then I would really like to see Vaati added, as well as Paper Mario.

While I argued heavily against it before, progressions Nintendo has made in the past few years leads me to believe Waluigi and/or Bowser Jr may be somewhat probable.

Third party characters, given Nintendo's new claim to ask other companies for help, seem essential to be expanded. Add in the attempt at appeal for hardcore gamers, and we may have some interesting notions. Banjo-Kazooie coule be feasible for the handheld (if not both versions, should Satan repent and Rare allow it), but perhaps Microsoft will agree if Nintendo offers to put in Master Chief.
In general I think it is companies that would like to be represented.
Konami- if they add another, I'd choose Simon Belmont. Or Frogger. Capcom- Megaman, Namco- Pacman, Ubisoft- Rayman, Hudson- Bomberman. Other fun ideas could be Crash, Spyro, Lara Croft, Scorpion...


**In all honesty I expect the character roster system to be completely revolutionized. While certain characters will certainly be in it (perhaps the core 12), the customization of characters wanted could really be what is revolutionary about these games. If they really wanted to change up how this franchise works, they could literally expand its universe by having hundreds of characters as options from a downloadable browser. The point of this game, to a certain level, is to see your beloved Nintendo worlds/characters (and friends) duke it out. Why not the whole Nintendo universe, then?

A Lucario/Mewtwo/Zoroark face off would be awesome. Rayman would be a pretty cool addition to the series.

While I really would enjoy seeing certain series fleshed out more, I think the best thing Nintendo could do with this series is continue to throw in characters from completely unrepresented franchises. This not only scopes the companies who would invest in this game, but branches out new games to the consumers of this extremely popular Smash bros. series. I would expect no less than them to capitalize on this- sell sell sell. Make people want those other games too.

And, put simply, have skins. That allows multiple characters to be added without a 'fully new' character being added. Easy input with a heavy output in fandom.

You make an excellent point. I had no idea what Sin and Punishment was prior to acquiring the one of the character trophies. When S&P2 was announced, I decided to fork over the money because I figured if the series was represented in SSB it must be somewhat good. Turns out to be one of the best shmups I've ever played.
