whelp...downloaded and finished this game in about 20 hours over three days. i must admit, it was a pretty interesting game. there was certainly more to it than i thought, with all that funky voodoo stuff that was going all. insanity is one helluva drug!

this is pretty much crysis level graphics, but it completely shits all over crysis, thats for sure. not the best game ive played, but its pretty great. ending was a bit of a letdown

i might make a review about it.

I was working my way towards 100%, but I've just discovered that there were some relics in missions that I've probably missed.

Can't be bothered to play through the missions again, not yet anyway. I'll probably just work towards getting the platinum trophy for the time being.

Woohoo, I found the spam general discussion thread (not that it was hard, being on the first page and all, but anyway...). How's everyone doing?

A Person, you say Far Cry 3 is fairly open-ended, I take it there's a lot of replay value too?

Sounds very much like a sandbox style game, would I be correct in assuming that, or am I way off there?

I would call it sandbox... Open world with a lot of side activities, a few side missions... It has no less content than GTA, and that's the sandbox game.

There are three things I look for when it comes to buying a new game, especially if it's a series I haven't invested in before: gameplay, story, and longevity / replayability. If it has both longevity and replayability (as well as the other two things), it's almost guaranteed that I'll end up hooked on it.

I'll have a look around to see what deals are going on this game, preferably online, but if there's a decent enough in-store price, I'll pick it up on that day.

The story is short, but I still have an accumulated 56 hours over all my saves. So the gameplay in general is the replayability.

It doesn't have much replayability, I haven't gone back to it and the multi-player doesn't interest me but the game itself is a lot of fun, I spent hours messing around on the Islands and really enjoyed clearing the outposts but the story does let it down towards the end and I would have liked less linear missions for the main storyline.

So yeah, FC3 does have some issues but it's a testament to the gameplay that I don't mind any of them, it is still a great game and can be picked up for pretty cheap at the moment.
