Far Cry 3 will be getting its first downloadable content in January, Ubisoft revealed today. The newly announced High Tides DLC will add two co-op chapters, "Jailbreak" and "Redemption," picking up right after the original six end with Leonard, Tisha, Mikhail and Callum. Thing is, the add-on is for PS3 only.
Meghan Watt, writer at Massive Entertainment (the folks behind Far Cry 3) teased PlayStation Blog readers with this little tidbit:
"We’ve got new missions, tougher fights, bigger competitions, some great up-close time with your favorite characters, and explosive moments unlike anything you’ve seen before. Can you tell we’re excited?"
Okay, so that's not too surprising given Ubisoft and PS3 are akin to Activision (and their Call of Duty series) and Xbox 360. Still, these things often wind up as timed exclusives, and Ubisoft made no mention of High Tides being a timed deal.
For now, Far Cry 3 owners playing on a 360 or PC will need to keep their fingers crossed.
Update: We've received word back from Ubisoft that High Tides is, indeed, a PS3-only affair. Sorry, everyone else.
