In the past we’ve delved into the history behind the Vindicator, the Gunslinger and now it’s time for the spotlight to fall on the Alchitect.
As you might imagine magic pervades the whole of Veil. Virtually all of the Ruinlords’ cities are home to sorcerers of some form or another. Most sorcerers , like the mages of Nexus, look towards the future as they try to build a new world to live in. The Alchitects of Requiem, however do not share this same vision and look towards the past. These elven sorcerers dedicate themselves to seeking out the secrets of the old world that have been lost in the debris of the War of Ruin. Under the tutelage of the Ruinlord Ophidian, the Alchitects seek to reconstruct and reassemble the world with the shattered knowledge hidden across the land.

The Alchitects are a variant of wizard that are unique to the elven city of Requiem, situated on a large island in the Southern Sea of Veil. Here, the winged serpent Ophidian established himself as a Ruinlord dedicated to the pursuit of lost knowledge. The serpent lord craved knowledge of all kinds, relishing arcane information in particular. Every rediscovered spell or ritual was a treasure to be hoarded. The elves of Requiem – the last purely elven city in Veil – came to know their home as the City of Secrets. Knowledge is power, and knowledge is coveted in Requiem above all else.

The rediscovery of lost knowledge was regarded as the most virtuous pursuit in Requiem. In the years after the city was founded, the mages of Requiem began to venture out across Veil, across the seas and throughout the mainland, in search of more eldritch knowledge. While Veil had no shortage of adventurers and plunderers digging through the wreckage of the civilizations lost in the war, the Alchitects of Requiem became known for their unique thirst for magical knowledge – not for profit or the strength to rule, but to rebuild a new world from the pieces of the old.
