5/10 is a bit harsh, don't you think?

I've played it, and have found few to no reasons to give it anything lower than a 7.

I had these fears ever since the trailers. I saw all the hype and the "scores" of 9 and 10 out of 10 and figured I might be wrong, but this is pretty much what I expected.

There's nothing WRONG with the game, as it it. Individually. But as part of the frachise? It's as bad an offender as Resident Evil 4 and its spawn. Fun games, and verry interesting. I love playing Mercenaries on every one of them. But that's just because I can pretend I'm playing a game actually called "Mercenaries", instead of part of the RE series. There are some expectations and, I dare say even, demands that have to be met when you make a game in a series, and not meeting them makes a game to not be judged by its own faults or merits, but by it's shortcomings when related to its parent games.

There is no reason, from a gamer's viewpoint, for a game to be part of a successful series when it tramples on everything that it once stood for. There ARE a lot of business reasons why this might seem like a good idea, though, which is why we got games like thse.

Not that they're BAD, again. They're disappointing, even when they're good.

Well, I'm absolutely glad you got to check out my review then, because I disagree wholeheartedly with a majority of those reviews and only wish I could get more people to read mine instead.

There's going to be a lot of people who pick up this game at full price and wonder whether they played a different game than the one that some outlets gave a 10/10. I know I'm certainly confused.

To be honest, not really. I'll agree that the AI aren't super intelligent in that they'll quickly forget that you threw an object into a specific area. The AI's biggest saving grace is that there are a heap of enemies, and that it's never actually easy to just assassinate a guy unscathed, because the next guy will soon turn a corner and catch you in the act.

Now I don't know about everyone else, but I've never been one to use weapons in a Hitman game unless it was a sniper rifle anyway. Isn't that what stealth is about? Being silent and subtle? As a whole, the biggest gameplay difference for me is that movement is a lot freer than in Blood Money/Contracts. I also think the addition of crowds through certain segments is excellent and is used better than it is in Assassin's Creed games. In the Chinatown mission (there's a gameplay video), when you assassinate your target, the crowd goes into panic mode, and you can actually run with the crowd, disguising yourself as a fleeing civilian. I also love the addition of a significant plot, giving you something to play for. I honestly think this game is really good, so don't feel too skeptical.

Mm, this sums it up for me too. Checkpoint system could've been better too but I'm very happy with the game. Contracts is great too.

Hmmmn, I honestly wanted a more polished version of Blood Money, now that was a game.
