Thoughts on the new hotfix?

So by now pretty much everyone's aware that there has been a hotfix to six of the lesser used guns of the game. The UMP45 has higher damage killing in the normal 3 shots close range, and 5 at long range I think, the FAD has higher damage and range, killing in one less bullet long range, the M16A4 kills in 2 bullets close range and 4 at long, the PM-9 has less recoil, the AK has less recoil and the MP5 has an increased fire rate.

Now that I got that out of the way, my opinion. All of these patches were pretty necessary, except the UMP boost (was already a reasonably decent gun, my favourite SMG) and the AK recoil reduction perhaps, and now that the M16A4 and the PM-9 have received pretty strong buffs, I would say that there's no real bad SMG/AR. Couple that with the shotgun and LMG buffs at some point throughout the year, and the Dragunov buff, and I think the game is starting to look really balanced.

The Type 95 now has a competitor in the M16A4, which is better damage-wise I'm pretty sure, something I'm happy about. The better rate of fire of the MP5 and the reduced recoil of the PM-9 make the MP7 start to look like a mid range gun only, since in my opinion, it can no longer keep up with the Pm-9 and MP5. (I tried the PM-9 in several Dome games today, in my quest to get it gold, and was pleasantly surprised that in most games my KD was around 2.5/3.0)

So even though the patch hasn't done anything to nerf the most overpowered guns in the game, the buffing of poorer weapons is now giving them a run for their money. I just reallly hope that people see this and stop using the MP7.

I wonder when the M16 hate will arrive.

After giving the MP5 without rapid fire and the AK a go, I can safely say the MP5's now definitely a contender.

However, it may have been connection, but for a supposed high damage AR, the AK still sucks dick. Just give us the CoD4 AK and ill be happy.

Only thing needed now is for them to cap the firerate of the MK-14 and buff the 1887 and SPAS.

ACR's damage is weak, the fact that every bullet hits the exact same place just means it kills faster.

The ACR really isn't that great, its low RoF, low damage, it just fires like a lazer, so every man and his dog use it.

Im not doubting you, but how long ago was this game released ? At release whole groups of weapons were unusably shite, the starting maps were terrible, It had the most overpowered guns in any COD (FMG), they nerfed my favourite weapon and then buffed everything else. Its just far too little, far too late. This game started off bad, the bad things still exist today yet they keep wasting time tuning and tweaking daft game modes and weapons which dont need it instead of actually fixing anything.

I dont think the timing was unexpected either. The entire franchise has been terrible in this area. The fact that a half arsed patch was released nearly a year into the game is not in any way surprising LOL. And looking to Treyarch for a comparison is a bad idea. We should be aiming much higher.

I have higher expectations. Vastly too high it seems. And I dont think the game is unsalvagaeable in theory, only in practice.

If IW and infact Treyarch pulled the fingers out and REALLY put some time into all of their released COD titles they could each be saved and/or improved. Even Black ops *spit*. But they wont. So in practice you are indeed correct.

Until then my opionion on the patch remains. Half arsed shite. A COD speciality.

donmonster, they didn't break the AK. It was bad before, and it's still bad now.
