M16A4: The Poor Man's Type-95

What is your opinion of the M16? If the Type-95 was weakened or wasn't in the game to begin with, how do you think the M16 would perform in it's absence? What improvements do you believe this gun needs, if any.

Personally, I've used both burst-fire weapons (M16 I've had about 700 kills, Type 95 I've gotten 3K), and I feel the M16 can perform effectively, if you are accurate. It does have some advantages over the Type 95, like a faster reload speed, a better range, arguably clearer iron sights, and apparently a greater hip-fire spread, but those perks do not usually make it a more practical option; it's fun to use, though.

I've also used it once, but I kept on getting 12 - 20 in matches, so I used different assault rifles as there are many better ones out there.

100% agree with Horse, and I don't even think that either would be OP in that situation. I nearly have the M16A4 gold, gonna be so pumped for when it happens, it and the PM-9 are tbh more fun than bad for me though, I enjoy using them, because their inferiority when it comes to stats makes me feel like a bad ass when I do well

Depends on what game mode your playing... Honestly it's a great defensive weapon. Although defensive tactics are now considered camping now because people are retards. But if you personally cap a flag in domination, or plant a bomb in search or demolition, then post up defending and just destroy people. Then I don't have a problem with it..



Definitely not a good gun for run and gunners though. And rapid fire helps the RoF a lot in my opinion.

M14 damage, with G3 recoil? WHO NEEDS AIM, SPAM THAT SHIT BRO.

The M16 is notorious in MW3 for being the underdog of just about every other gun. It definitely is not the same weapon from the previous call of duties, but its not nessecarily because it has been down-graded.

I think most people look at the m16 as useless because they compare it to the Type-95 and MK14. Both of those weapons are 2 hit kills (usually) and the Type is infamous for being considered the most OP gun in the game. So yes, statistics wise, the M16 isn't as good as those 2 weapons. BUT, it boils down to personal preference.

I have used the M16 alot. I enjoy using burst fire weapons, and the M16 seems to be the most comfortable. It has its flaws, in my opinion: iron sights are too cluttered, it gets hit-markers too often, and it is very poor at close range. Then again, it has its good side: Low recoil, doesn't take up as much of the screen as Type, quick reload, decent magazine size, and you won't be called a "noob" in the lobby because it isn't the Type-95.

I stray from using guns such as the Type, PP90M1, MP7, and ACR because the game feels too easy and gets boring. Plus, it takes more skill to use lower-class weapons, and actually makes the game a challenge.

So, at the end of it all, it's all about preference. I like the description in the Title, "Poor man's Type-95". It really is, stats-wise. But with every gun, there is always someone out there who uses it and enjoys it.

My class set-up for the M16 is as follows:

M16A4 w/Rapid Fire & Some form of sight (Usually Red-dot)
P99 w/extended mags
Throwing Knife
Concussion Grenades

Blind-Eye
Quick-Draw
Sit-Rep

Specialist KS
Blast Shield
Assassin
Scavenger
