What exactly counts towards gun XP? It took me until level 55 to get my gold AK.

from 1 to 30 is 81,900 exp. the only reason it takes so hard to get from 30 to 31 is because it takes 81,900 aswell. anyway my advice is to not do games that give you lots of exp (like searh and destroy) because it only ranks up your char lvl so maybe do kill confirm or team deathmatch.

Attachments are the way to do it quickest. After that, just need to keep getting kills.

And don't be under the illusion that some are, whereby the xp you gain all goes towards weapon xp too. Therefore Search and Destroy is not the mode to play. Something like Domination or Kill Confirmed is best.

You are telling him a cheating way to do it? A way that can get him banned and reset.

If you boost or have ever boosted, you obviously suck too badly in this game that you can't do it on your own.

The way I do it is I do all my challenges first, getting all the attachments and such. Whenever I see someone camping in the corner, or sniping, or I simply come from behind them I get the head shot. Try to get the head shot whenever possible it may only be a few extra experience points but believe me it racks up. I have gotten 2 guns golden every prestige.

Go on drop zone and u will see u will get a lot more xp. Put on specialist also:D

getting the attachment upgrades level you up quick, but not as fast as total kills and headshot benchmarks for that gun.completing attachments give you 1000 xp each,but the kill and headshot marks start at 500 and go up to 10,000 xp, i believe. i've had some serious discrepancies between guns getting to level 31.for instance, i got my ksg-12 gold in just 554 kills, my aa-12 only 517, with 46 and 42 headshots respectively. but it took over 1000 kills to get the usas-12 gold, with 80+ headshots. guess it could be i racked up some 500+ kills with usas before i prestiged, but i don't think so. i was more of a striker user as a noob, and that only took 600 kills w/ 70+ headshots to get gold in first prestige.
