I am the moderator of this forum along with PhoenixBlue. My judgment is just as important as his and I won't take any beef from someone with an attitude.

I have gotten NUMEROUS complains from MANY people in the past month about that thread. That is what got me to put a closer clamp down on it. I slowly tried to relieve that clamp since at the time it seemed like it was getting better, but low and behold, it shifts down to the same selfless advertising crap we've seen since the creation.

The discussion should take place IN THE FORUM. End. Not on the video. The thread's original intention was to generate discussion IN THE FORUM and that would help produce topics IN THE FORUM. If the discussion is being taken elsewhere, it's nothing more than advertising. Neoseeker doesn't care about your subs, views and how much money you make. We as moderators don't care. What WE CARE about is the forum, not the community you generate outside of the website.

What I think is that we start the thread over. Fresh, clear rules and fresh everything else. Everyone starts on a clean slate and I WILL (along with PhoenixBlue) be monitoring the thread. If something doesn't follow the guidelines we place in it then it will be deleted. Neoseeker isn't here for your advertising benefits. Neoseeker is here to discuss and commune with other members on this website about a certain topic. All that happens is that the possible discussion from the forum is being taken to Youtube. Which is detrimental to the growth of the forum.

If you're not going to use the thread to the way it was supposed to be used, you may soon find yourself not using it at all.

I never said you were not a moderator nor did I imply your judgement is any less than others, I simply referred to you as NEW, being that I haven't seen you on that forum until recently. Is that offensive to you?

You've misunderstood what i was saying. I was saying that posting our videos there does not help nor advertise our channel in any way. Its sole and only possible reason is to share them with the other members of this forum. We never asked nor sought Neoseeker to care about our youtube channels (we dont need them to), we want them to care about our forum and our wishes to keep it.

I dont think I've ever misused this forum. And I comment on the video often because I think responding "Cool vid man" over and over on the videos I like would not be tolerated. If the video poses a question I feel like discussing, I respond on the forum. I used to be very active on this forum, thats why most of everyone knows who I am. I recently have had a lot going on IRL, which has prevented me from contributing as much as I used to. But I still contribute, and I think just because no one responds to a video doesn't mean the creator didn't try to spark discussion.

And after all of this I find it odd that due to my discussion and debate about this subject you threaten to ban me? Did I insult you? Did I use inappropriate means to relay my opinion? Have I dumped videos on the video thread? Have I broken any rules or acted in a disrespectful manner?

I dont believe that I have. And if I offended you by calling you NEW; by the way I didn't name you in the original post because it wasn't my intent to do so, I only so did because other mods asked; then I apologize. I personally have not seen you on that thread at all before a week or two ago. To me you are NEW.

The Video Thread NEEDS to change because all it is right now is people (1. Posting a MW3 video and (2. Redirecting both users and discussion to their channels. That is advertising and advertising other websites is not allowed on Neoseeker in any place but your signature. Whether you want it to happen or not it irrelevant, it's happening and it needs to stop. Horse did something great and tested you all to see if any of you were actually trying to promote discussion, in which he only got 1 reply. Out of at least a combination of 10 active users who use that thread, that's pathetic.

When we make the video thread again, we're going to be putting new and fresh rules around it. If something breaks those rules (such as a post) it will be deleted. When I'm getting complaints from at least 5-6 given users that a thread is nothing but selfless advertising, and I step in and put my foot down only to have the same stuff continue, don't expect me to just say "Do what you want". Expect something to change.

The thread has brought a lot of people together. There are about ten active people that use it and, I'd say, we get on well as a result of it. I've met a lot of people in that thread; it can't be a bad thing if it brings people together. It's hardly shameless self promotion either because, as has been pointed out, hardly anyone goes in that thread: we're not exactly flypostering our YT channel's address on a billboard. I just use it as a means of keeping up to date with some of the members on here that post videos.

I really think this is a bit of a non-issue that is being blown out of proportion.

I understand that you want to promote discussion within it, but it has done that. It's just not explicitly in that thread now because the guys that do post in there pretty much all know each other now.

I'm just really shocked (and amazed) that 5 or 6 different, living, actual people were so offended by the content of a simple video thread that they felt they had to complain to a moderator. I just don't get that. Don't go into that thread if you're so appalled by its content!

Who cares who it brought together, it's advertising and it's not allowed, that issue is bigger than the fact it doesn't generate any discussion, which is a point that seems to be going over your head. If you're all friends and watch each others youtube videos, surely you are all subscribed to one another, so you won't have to use the thread 'as a means to keep up to date with others who post videos' as you say.

Thread thread is breaking a Neoseeker rule; Advertising. If we think the people in the thread are advertising, then it's our job to take action against what's causing it. In this case, it's the fact that the thread is nothing but people posting videos without anyone actually talking about the videos.

I do agree the forum thread needs new life and some new faces. But I don't think this will be achieved by further censoring of the biggest contributors, like my friend above. I don't think that people not responding to the videos is the video creators fault. The thread/forum just needs new life; maybe there's something neoseeker can do to bolster its veiwers/members coming to the thread, or maybe you can promote the thread in other more successful areas of the forum. You are putting your perceived non-success of the forum on our shoulders. And then arguing with us when we voice our concerns. Our reactions are based on our perceptions of you and your method of handling this perceived problem.

I see you feel very passionately about this subject and can't have a calm conversation about it, you are arguing for arguments sake, and saying the same things over and over. You wanted feedback about your suggestions and planned changes, if you didn't you would have just implemented them instead of telling us about your plans. And then when we respond this is the reaction we get:

I mean if you never really liked the thread, maybe you aren't the best person to revive it. Maybe when we see a moderator say that and then that moderator says everything is going change we react they way we did and are. I've said my piece and I'll leave you to your own devices.

I guess I kinda thought this was our forum and not solely the moderators, and maybe our opinions would have been heard and thought about rather than dismissed and responded to negatively.

That's the definition for advertising, and it's what your doing, you are making a post promoting your channel. We're not going by different definitions here, advertising isn't a hard concept to grasp, I just think you're against the thread being changed as you're one of the ones who post your video and disappear until it's time to post the next one, just like everyone else who has jumped to the defence of the threads current state. Whether or not you do it with the intention of promoting it is besides the point (despite the fact it's clearly why you do it), it's still advertising. Just because it's not a very popular thread, that doesn't make it an exception to the rules in place on advertising.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of dictionaries out there and there are variations regarding to definitions in each of them. Clearly I understand what it means to advertise something - however, I've stated that I'm sharing something with friends - it's not a viable, effective means of advertising - so I don't see it that way.

You don't need to patronise me with definitions, bro. I know what's going on here and I have my own beliefs. Throwing a dictionary at me isn't going to change them.

Just a note, you said our definitions of advertising differ and that was causing a problem since you think what you were doing was not advertising, whilst I think it is. That's why I brought up a definition, not to patronise you, just to give a bit of ground to what we were discussing.

No more though, just wanted to clear it up. Wasn't trying to be patronising or anything of the sort.

Unless the video discussion thread is a massive concern that the Super Mods are really against, I think it should be best just to leave it how it is, and change the system for when Black Ops II comes out.

I don't think there's really any point in changing it now because it's something that's been the same for a couple years now. But also just let the posters in that thread know that perhaps instead of commenting on videos, bring their discussion to the forum so that it isn't just a video dump thread.
However maybe clamp out the 'newb' members from posting or something.

I mean like people like ForrestPower post elsewhere in the forum as well.
