Of course the thread is going to be an indication of where things went wrong as it was never dealt with, but there's little use in using it an example of how many posts you'd have to delete because that's from a time when they had free reign to advertise all they liked. If you choose to try and improve it instead of just closing it after you've spoke with PhoenixBlue you could just make a new thread, fresh rules, make it clear people won't be allowed to just advertise and not contribute at all, and the problem will be minimized. No doubt you'll still get people coming in just posting their videos and disappearing, but just delete the post, and no harm done. You tested having no moan thread, I think it would be worth testing a revamped video thread for things like Horse/Whelan said. Better than just not bothering and closing the thread imo.

I was referring to what you said below. It wasn't a threat, especially since I have no jurisdiction over this forum, but it's what would eventually happen if you decided to think that it was OK to make threads just to advertise your channel if the video thread was closed.

i dont really think that many people view videos through that thread anyway, if they really like someones videos, they're most likely subscribed. my suggestion, have the thread so that you can only post in it if you have a certain number of posts (250 or so) so that they have to contribute and cant just instantly make an account to spam videos.

At this moment in time, it isn't possible to set a post restriction on threads.

Umm I have been one of the Mods for the last two years for Call of Duty

My opinion on the Video Thread? A fair point is made in terms of lack of discussion, however it does provide a place for all the montages etc, rather tthan outright outlawing them.

I wasn't referring to you or Runeripper, I was more singling out Mia. It seems to me that he/she just recently became active on that thread and since then as sought to minimize the videos being posted there; either because they are "dumping" or don't lead to meaningful discussion.

This forum's video thread is my favorite forum. I'll admit I haven't been active in posting my own videos on it lately but I still check it daily to watch other's creators vids. I personally have grown to know most of them, and rather enjoy the fact that I can come to one place to see all their vids. I realize my opinion is my own and is not necessarily shared by others. But I would ask that you not dispose of it as I feel quite attached to it.

I don't think its hurting anything and it achieves the goal of keeping endless video threads from dominating the general discussion area.

I am the moderator of this forum along with PhoenixBlue. My judgment is just as important as his and I won't take any beef from someone with an attitude.

I have gotten NUMEROUS complains from MANY people in the past month about that thread. That is what got me to put a closer clamp down on it. I slowly tried to relieve that clamp since at the time it seemed like it was getting better, but low and behold, it shifts down to the same selfless advertising crap we've seen since the creation.

The discussion should take place IN THE FORUM. End. Not on the video. The thread's original intention was to generate discussion IN THE FORUM and that would help produce topics IN THE FORUM. If the discussion is being taken elsewhere, it's nothing more than advertising. Neoseeker doesn't care about your subs, views and how much money you make. We as moderators don't care. What WE CARE about is the forum, not the community you generate outside of the website.

What I think is that we start the thread over. Fresh, clear rules and fresh everything else. Everyone starts on a clean slate and I WILL (along with PhoenixBlue) be monitoring the thread. If something doesn't follow the guidelines we place in it then it will be deleted. Neoseeker isn't here for your advertising benefits. Neoseeker is here to discuss and commune with other members on this website about a certain topic. All that happens is that the possible discussion from the forum is being taken to Youtube. Which is detrimental to the growth of the forum.

If you're not going to use the thread to the way it was supposed to be used, you may soon find yourself not using it at all.

Not to but in but I figured I would give me opinion since I have posted in this forum here and there. I also think that just closing the old one and starting anew would be a good idea. With a good eye the thread could end up being a lot of fun.
