When they get patched, the Skorpion and the G18 are gonna be used. Just like when the Type 95 is patched, the ACR is going to be used.
They don`t need one weapon to be nerfed, they need a whole revamp.
I've used the G18's, they won't be used at all.
They have a shitload of upward recoil, and kids these days don't like adapting to aiming at peoples crotch in order to get kills.
At this point, I don't want this patch to come. Simply because I don't know if they're going to bend the shotguns over in this patch as well, and remove the Extended Mag 'glitch'.
I have come to conclusion that unbalanced guns make the game more fun. Why else would Infinity Ward keep doing it?
Fun? You call being killed by Skillkimbo FMGs fun?
I know I sound like a god damned maniac, but I will be honest. Infinity Ward knows what they are doing. People may say they are idiots, yet they ARE in control of the number 1 franchise on the console market. There is no way they would *bleep* up something like that and not fix it.
To prove this, I was playing SCV with a couple o buddies. One of them never played before and he picked a mediocre character. He did not like the game until he found Maxi, a cheap character.
Tha fact anyone DOESN'T think IW fluked the entire thing.
That's like saying Nickelback is a much better rock band than Rush because they have 10 million more albums sold.
People are dumb and will year after year buy this mediocre game.
does that include you then?
There's levels of stupidity. I bought this game used, to play with friends. IW made no money off my ass, nor will they because I won't buy DLC.
Then there's the people who were wrapped up in the Elite spiel. "Oh don't worry, you'll get the DLC early!" Yeah right, PS3 owners pay the same amount for Elite yet get the maps a month after? What a joke.
My point is, even though you disagree, CoD is always improving. Black Ops 2 will have no machine pistols, which can be easily predicted, but I believe MW4 won't have them either after the backlash of the FMG9 Akimbos.
Agree with a lot of what you say but don't agree with this: MW2 shit-storm over grenade launchers were greater than storm over FMG9s, and Grenade Launchers are still in MW3.
Barely played MW3 since the patch, and I'd just prestiged so don't have any akimbo MP. Has the patch made any difference? Is it worth using handguns for any reason other than sentiment?
I still don't see anyone using handguns.
The fools who spam with akimbo machine pistols continue to spam with akimbo machine pistols.
Maybe when you get the Damage proficiency (I've yet to get it for a shotgun yet, although since I've hit 10th I'll go with the SPAS first), then I would agree with you. But every time I've picked one up I just get hit markers out the whazoo or I'll get a random OHK from like 20m away, yet hit someone center mass who has their back to me like 2 feet away and get a nice sound of a hit marker, a killcam and then a '+40 Assist' on my screen.
The fact that you have to grind out the best part of like what, 500 kills with a shotgun just to make it useable is beyond a joke to me and even then, it still seems that the pump-actions are less effective than the semi-autos bar the AA-12 making the KSG-12/SPAS-12 pretty pointless.
I really don't understand how hard it was for IW to keep the shotguns exactly the same as they were in MW2 and just make them primaries instead for MW3, instead of making them primary and nerfing them to shit at the same time.
Yeah, I'm tenth and staying there and I've hit Damage with 5/6, so good point. But I actually played a game today with the Model 1887 (only up to Range) and got no hitmarkers the entire game (may have been a stray one, but it didn't get me killed) and got a solid amount of kills, so yeah, if that gun has received some sort of buff, I'd believe it after today (first game of MW3 in a couple of months, school work is hitting me hard).
I would agree entirely about making the MW2 shotguns primaries in MW3 point, the fact that the best ones were lever/bolt action was a really great thing for the balance, these days the semi auto and auto ones are too dominant for my liking.
It's actually been a very long time since I haven't had Damage or Range on a shotgun, so I'd find it quite interesting to go back to the very beginning, Kick on a Spas haha
No 1887 buff.
You just had a lucky game.
In fact, the 1887 is the only shotgun that hasn't been changed in any way since the game's release.

Thanks for clarifying haha, I was actually genuinely wondering about a buff, but everyone seemed to think sarcasm. Wasn't it one of the guns that IW talked about buffing on its facebook page? I wasn't sure if it had been done though.
Dunno, I haven't kept up with patches since they buffed the USAS and KSG.
I use the 1887 pretty regularly and haven't noticed any difference though.
Just to clarify, the SPAS hasn't been changed, stat wise either. It just had the Extended Mag glitch, so I'm counting that as a change, other than that, the other shotguns have been buffed, or nerfed in the case of the Striker.
If you have a problem with being killed by shotguns, you're bad at this game, clear and clean.
A shotgun cannot touch you past 15 feet. If a shotgun user constants finds you within his range, that's your fault for being a dumb ass.
Wow, okay.. So someone running around spraying the striker makes them good at the game? I'm sorry but shotguns are for people who lack precision and wanna run around being assholes. As for the range, I really think they vary, especially with connections. I was hit by a 1887 from a good distance the other day, for a gun that's supposedly being buffed in the next update, I'm surprised.
Oh, forgive me, of course a shotgun isn't a precision weapon, and are people who run around being assholes.
A shotgun requires more precision than your ACR, bub.
Oh, and don't put the rest of us shotgun users in the same boat as Striker users or now, USAS users. Those fools should go back to spraying with ACR's.
I reiterate. If someone bests you time and time again with a SPAS or an 1887, you're bad.
xegaldis, fair enough, Striker/USAS users are shit. They use the cop out shotguns because they can't use the proper ones.
Thing is though, the 1887 has the most range of the shotguns, but it also has the most amount of time between shots. You have to have very good aim to use it, 'cause if you miss, or the first shot doesn't kill the guy, unless he's holding the controller backwards, you don't get a second shot.
I think I was one of the few who didn't really have a problem with the Striker pre-patch because 95% of the time, a SPAS or an 1887 will eat it alive one on one. I'd have shot and killed him before he'd spammed enough shells to kill me. Now it's a piss poor shotgun, I don't think I've been killed by one since the nerf.
I can imagine it'd be frustrating as all hell meeting a Striker inside a building while using an AR though.
The USAS didn't need a buff either. I got gold camo for it before the patch, and used it with a Silencer and Damage and it ate people alive. It was easier to use than the SPAS or 1887, both of which I also have gold, with the added effect of not showing up on the radar, so I got quite a few 4-6 man feeds in TDM.
Wait, did you say they were buffing the 1887 next patch?
xegaldis, give the 1887 a whirl man, I should warn you though, the 1887 you see in the gameplay is one with Damage.
A 1887 without damage is the worst gun in MW3 at the moment (A PM-9 is good if you never ADS, and the Drag just got a buff). It's ridiculously inconsistent, you can shoot two people right next to each other, 5 metres away from you and hitmarker one and kill the other.
On numerous occasions while levelling it up, I've had two people line up for me, one behind the other and somehow managed to kill the guy behind the guy I was aiming at, and only get a hitmarker on the guy I was actually aiming at.
Sometimes it'll surprise you and you'll get a nice longshot, other times I've gotten hitmarkers when the barrel of the gun is touching a guys chest.
Once you get Damage it becomes a bit more consistent, and usable, but before that, it's definitely a labour of love.
I suggest giving the SPAS a go if you're itching for a shotgun before you unlock the 1887. It gives the same level of challenge.
Ajax The Spas 12 is awesome. After a little less than a day of playing with it, I got it to level 30 and got my first ever shotgun MOAB on lockdown with it. It dominated in close quarters and I even got some long shots in with it. Did they buff it while I didn't have the game or something?
I wish I could upload the video but not only do I have recording off, I have no way of uploading it at all.
How I missed this, I don't know.
But nope, no buffs.
Last time it was touched, it wasn't really touched at all, the only thing that's changed for it in the history of MW3 is the Extended Mags glitch being patched.
It's meant to get a buff soon though. Whether it'll actually happen or not, iunno.
