Playstyles

There are many different playing styles in Call of Duty. People play anything from hardcore camping to rushing with a shotgun. But most people specialise in one type of play.

I would categorise these into 3 styles: defensive, aggressive and multifarious.


Defensive


Camping
- Generally defined by their Portable Radar and claymore, plays to survive and get high K/D.

Sniping
- Secures a defensible position and engages enemies from long range.

Smart Camping
- Sticks to choke points and favourable positions to hold down a location/objective and rack up kills, to control every engagement and engage enemies on their terms, sometimes at the expense of their team.




Aggressive


Run n' Gun/Suicidal
-Self-explanatory

Stealthy
- Flanks and takes the lesser travelled paths to the enemy, normally accompanied by a silenced SMG or AR.)

Close Quarters
- These players equip CQC weapons to rush the enemy, and quickly dispatch them from close range.


Objective
- Purpose is to cap objectives, plays for the team and to win.



Support
- Anti-air cold-blooded, generally prioritising the objective.

Mobile Sniper
- Plays a support role in combat situations, and tries to maintain distance from high-traffic locations.


Slayer
- Takes tactical risks to assault enemy positions and rape spawns.

Schizophrenia
- Whatever you feel like, when you damn well feel like it. Probably includes Riot Shielding.

Quickscoper
- Nuff' said

Tactical Player
- Changes tactics frequently based on enemy positions and the states of the objective/s. Unpredictable, and a hybrid of styles, based on the flow of the game.


But which do you think is more effective, and which do you use?
Be honest.
Do you prioritise the objective, or play for K/D?
Do you play a different style in a party?

Same Hutch, would call myself tactical. Play to my guns strengths, avoid long lines of sight with shotguns and SMGs, play a bit more defensively with an assault rifle. My game is based off of capturing B dom and then getting my killstreaks to get the game over with as quick as possible and with a high as score as possible

I play the objective. I can't stay in one place because I'm ADHD in video games.

I'm a hardcore rusher.

Typically, Im stealthy or play tactically, but when I get bored, I quickscope.

Eh... I don't fit into any of those.
Even "Schizophrenia" doesn't really describe it.

I'm somewhat of a "rusher", I guess, with a little CQC thrown in.
I mostly use assault rifles, and am 50/50 between automatic and semi-auto weapons.

I do sometimes switch it up on occasion.

I play in a party with friends 90% of the time.
I'm a social player, not an aggressive or serious player. I don't look at K/D or any other stats.

Also, I'm weird in that I usually try to use weapons appropriate to the team I'm on.

I'd probably come under the smart camping category where I go to key areas and hold down the objective such as the B flag in Domination as this plays to my strengths. However, that is just when i'm in a full party. Otherwise, its play the objective for me when by myself or with just a couple of others.

Stealth/tactical

I like suppresors and will flank and spawn trap as much as possible, i hate slow games and cant wait for people to come to me, as i find its easier to rush and catch the enemy off guard, rather than being targeted by revenge killers and having them catch me offguard.. If i go on a 6-7 killstreak i will back off as i get close to killstreaks (to help ensure getting them). I will hop on flags if i feel we are in a good position to take them, but uselessly dieing has no point.

I think aggressive camping is just like regular camping, but requires a mic coupled with several obscenities and possibly meme-related phrases being screamed.
