HOW IS IT?!

I couldn't get it today, which makes me really sad because my friends said it was so amazing.

What do you guys think of it? I CANNOT WAIT TO GET IT THIS WEEKEND AGHAGA.

If you're looking forward to a solid story mode, and getting to know the characters than it's a disappoint. I'm a story kind of person, so this means I'm looking forward to Blazblue even more now for the new Story Mode content because I feel cheated (once again) by Namco Bandai.

However, the combat is faster now, and it's taking me a bit to get comfortable with the new mechanics. So you're looking at a fighting game that's more oriented for someone who cares more about getting online and kicking ass and learning the mechanics than someone who loves detailed stories and characters.

Aw, sorry you don't like it. I'm getting it next week and I've heard less disappointing news about it. We'll have to see though.

The game looks amazing. the create a char is pretty fun. havent had a chance to play online yet spending to much time on ff13-2

If you don't like the story, then you're not a true fan of the series honestly... Gameplay is always number one, but one of the most fun thing about sc has always been to pick a character and play their stories and see their endings. (especially like in sc3 which has easily the best story-mode)

Usually,the story mode in soulcalibur series was just fine,untill now...
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!

Reasons:

-Viola will have an important role in the story
Really?Then why does she get only three lines?(I am not counting the quotes)

-Why did they even bother introducing Zwei when he...dies?Seriously...You introduce a new character...and then kill it off?!Bad move.

-Too many mimic styles:Elysium mimics femals,while Kilik goes for males fighting styles.But wait!There goes the Edgemaster-Defeating both of their purposes...by mimicking EVERYONE.

-What happened to rest of the characters who didn't make the cut?We deserve to know.The only ones who got the explanation were Setsuka and Xianghua.

-A single story mode.Pain the a**!While Soulcalibur IV was,in my opinion horrible,at least the characters got their own endings.But in this one,Patroklos and Phyrra got their happy ending,while the rest were ignored.

NOTE:This is the exact same thing that Tekken 6 did-Introduced two new protagonists(Lars and Alisa)and the rest were unimportant.

-Again,why bother introducing new characters when we are not going to learn ANYTHING about them?!The only things we know about them are their backstories.The game is supossed to say something more about them...BUT NOOOOOO...Such questions as:Is Viola Amy?
Why Kilik isn't Leixia's father? Are unanswered.

-Too much sword and shields characters.Patroklos,Phyrra,Omega Phyrra and if you count Elysium...

-Here is a drinking game:If you hear Patroklos say Malfested take a drink.TAKE TWO if SOMEONE else says it.

-Some of the characters aren't even MENTIONED in the story mode. e.g. Algol...and if I am not wrong:Raphael,Hilde.Even though...they ARE IN THE GAME!

I played all calibur/edge games so heres my opinion about Soul Calibur 5.

Story mode: it could be a beautiful 120 minutes movie about patroklos and pyrrha, but for a gameplay mode its very lacking and weird. Would have been better if they made weapon demos or a training mode with missions instead of this one.

Other single player modes: Lacking. No survival, no missions, no interactive cutscenes or dungeon dwelling.
You only get to play a very buggy quick battle mode with unlockables, plus an arcade and training mode for trying out stuff.
Theres a legendary mode that can be unlocked, but the only thing different from arcade mode is that the AI doing impossible things, like throwing you while he guard impacts with his backside.

Gameplay mechanics : Very very similar to tekken series. Unlike SC4 where you had to think and know your opponent, this one is a button masher. Means you choose an overpowered character like natsu or omega pyrrha and hit any button fast enough to win.
You also need to quick step like always, because guarding and guard impacting just became useless.

Online battles : Lot of options to choose from, text chatting, tournaments, rivals, still online battle progressing is very slow compared to the one in SC4, that means you usually waste 1 hour or more with just waiting for someone to fight.

Other things, CAS, styles, design.: The CAS is where this game is shining, its really brilliant, tho the fighting style list is very poor. You can save screenshots and put your own music in game.
Also customize your player card, which is much like a driving licence, recording all your infos and battle progress.

In total this game is the weakest of all SC games for an SC fan, but for someone who doesnt give a sh@& about quality and just wants to get into the fray and beat everyone to pulp with pyrrha this game might be a good pick.

Ok the control is pretty much BS.
SoulCalibur5 still respond poorly, i'm not just talking Ivy's Calamity Symphony i'm saying alot of the commands for nearly all the characters attacks respond poorly. Just attacks, quick button inputs, hasn't improved from SoulCalibur4.
Just attacks STILL respond whenever it wants or not at all. Quick commands, only a small number responds & not every time.
It's extremely annoying having characters with lets say 15attacks but less then half actually respond to correct button input.
Inputting the commands quickly, slowly or somewhere in between they do not respond as Bandai/Namco thinks. The Ai performs them all like nothing while players become frustrated from a low success rate & just skip over attacks because of the poor & iffy button pace SoulCalibur5 demands. Bandai/Namco in a sorry attempt to make things easy end up reducing & nerfing characters attacks from SoulCalibur4.
To me SoulCalibur5's control is a 3.5 out of 10
