Mediterranean Defense

On paper, an evolution of the system from AC:B sounds great, but the way it's implemented in the game is *bleep*ing annoying.

You invest your assassins in a city, do several missions to gain influence, and after 1 hour, the Templars have reduced assassin control to 0 and have assaulted the city. There are 12 *bleep*ing cities, so you constantly need to micro manage if you want to keep them under the Assassins and enjoy the benefits.

Okay, that's alright. Can't have it too easy. Well, I think I'll station a couple of my Assassins in that city. That should help things, right?

NOPE.

The presence of assassins raises the percentage a little but it only delays the inevitable. I had 4 level 10's stationed in Athens and it still went to 0% pretty damn fast. Oh well, atleast this time if the Templars attack, I won't have to send any of my personal 12 to fight, since there are already assassins there, right?

NOPE.

I still need to send assassins to fight, or I'll lose the city. Okay, so I'll have to make some effort to keep the city under control. But surely I can just instruct the assassins already there to do missions in the city instead of having to send one of my 12, right?

NOPE.

You can't do anything at all with the stationed assassins. You still have to send your own "local" assassins to do missions.

Unless I'm missing a huge *bleep*ing trick to this, this mini game is a pain in the ass.



EDIT: Wait, I just noticed you can actually send the city assassins to do missions. Well, *bleep* me, they didn't have to put that option at the bottom of my *bleep*ing screen.

Holy shit, don't even get me going on templar awareness and den defense. They were fun the first 2-3 times, but got annoying soon, and to add insult to injury it's harder to lower templar awareness. I can't wait till my last two den assassins become masters so that I could go rub my bum in the templar's faces and they wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

I don't have a single problem with the mini game really. I have all my cities on over 40% influence and they rarely get attacked. Then again I'm only on sequence 4 of the game. I, however, have only done the den defense once. I did not like it at all so I keep my templar awareness under 50% all the time.

I think i've claimed one city, but i haven't 'stationed' any assassins there yet (didn't know you could until i read this thread). But then i've only got like 6 assassins at the moment, one who's a master assassin and the rest who are much lower.

The one thing i've found annoying so far is that, some missions only allow assassins with the correct weaponry to perform them. And you have no control over what weapons your assassins use.

Oh yeah after i claimed the city i noticed that some missions required you to pay money. I'm not rich yet so *bleep* THAT.

Holding the towns is way better than just sending assassins on missions to them. The missions that you have to pay to do are an investment like buying the shops around town. They add +$100 or more every "day" (20 mins) as long as you hold the town. Plus they give you free bomb ingredients. It's on the same cycle as your bank deposits. If you have trainees stationed in a town they can run missions in that town without tying up your local entourage, and they earn free XP every "day" just for being there. Some of the pay for missions improve the daily XP gain.

Every time I recruit a new assassin I can put them in Alexandria and they earn 750xp every 20 minutes and I don't need to think about it. I go collect fragments and run story missions while they all rank up to lvl 10. And I can station 5 at a time there.

How do you do this? I couldn't find the option

I assume you already have assassins stationed in the city. When you've selected a mission and are at the screen where you assign assassins to do it, hit square to access the city assassins.

For some reason, the first assassin can never go on a mission. So for example, if you have 3 assassins at a city, you can only send 2 on missions. If there's only one assassin stationed there, you can't use them.
