BB_Brona VS Corruption - 1st duel of le SPEED Tourney - IT'S TIME TO D-D-D-D-DUEL.

Yay for overused Yu-gi-oh, and yu-gi-oh abridged references.

The duel will begin in about 15 minutes. I'm waiting for a PM from Corruption

Lavir stomped through the graveyard. A roiling mist swirled around his feet, not rising above his knees. He was pissed off. He was always pissed off, but right now he was especially pissed off.
He dug into his pocket and pulled out a crumpled letter that had been read and reread dozens of times.

"Greetings, good sir or madam,

It has come to our attention that there are a lot of duelists in the world. People with strange powers and abilities. In honor of all of you, we are holding a tournament where you will try to incapacitate your opponent as quickly as possible. Speed duels of a sort.

We would prefer that your participation be willing. However, we do have...other means of forcing participation if necessary. Please do not force us to use...more direct tactics."

Lavir scowled and crunched the letter between his hands and stuffed it back into his pocket. It was the stupidest thing he had ever heard of. He didn't have time to go around beating people up for sport anyway. Certainly not for somebody else's sport.
But then Selena had disappeared and another letter had come.

We regret that our hand has been forced in this matter. We have taken the woman and are holding her somewhere. If you want her back, compete in our tournament until you lose or are victorious.

Do not look for her. You won't find her.

What you will find, however, is your first opponent in the graveyard in Abrffrfrfmumblemumble - The letter was unintelligible there - "We will be watching closely to see how things pan out.

Thus, Lavir found himself stomping through a graveyard, not even sure if it was the right one because that stupid doll had insisted that they come.
"I should have just left you in the future," Lavir muttered.
"Aw, don't be like that, d00d," the rainbow sword on his back spoke, "We've had so many fun off-screen adventures. We're pals now. You, me, and Selena, d00d. And Selena's been kidnapped, so now we gotta rescue her! It's only right."
Lavir scoffed, "If those fools had any idea of who the hell we are, they wouldn't have dared lay a finger on that woman. She's probably already blown up where ever they've hidden her and is making her way back now."
"You don't know that, d00d!" the Maxamune pointed out, "What if they're super villains!?"
"Then I'll kick their asses after I finish with this stupid tournament," Lavir growled.

Thunder rolled in the gray sky above, causing the Hero's scowl to deepen.
"Wonderful," he muttered sourly. The ground began to slosh beneath his feet as rain began to fall on the already damp ground. How was he supposed to know if a person he encountered was a Duelist?
"Well, d00d, clearly, they'll be evil-looking. And out of place. Because we're the good guys, so our opponent will definitely be evil." The Maxamune responded when Lavir voiced his thought.
"You mean like us?" Lavir replied dryly. He wasn't exactly the image of an angel of goodness. He flexed his demonic arm. Nobody would look at him and think there was anything good about him.

And maybe there wasn't. Not that he gave a damn.

Lavir topped another small hill and stopped. He was back at the entrance. But there was somebody in front of a grave in the distance, head bowed in also prayer. A hand went to the hilt of the Maxamune, drawing it in front of him.
"That's gotta be the duelist, d00d! Just look at her! She's so evil-looking!"
"She looks like an ordinary girl, you idiot," Lavir said.
"No way, d00d! Look at that red hair! Everybody knows red-heads are evil!"
"She is not the duelist we're here to fight. She looks like she's mourning. We should leave her be."
It was out of respect for the dead that Lavir did not simply smack the Maxamune on the ground and blow it up a few times out of frustration with the imprisoned prinny plushie. He certainly was not going to start a fight with somebody paying their respects, no matter how angry he was.

The Maxamune had other plans.

"I'm telling you, d00d! She's evil!" The Maxamune trembled in his hands, straining to reach the girl. Lavir was jerked into an awkward battle charge down the hill.

"GOD DAMN IT, MAXWELL!"

Edit: Fixed a minor continuity error to put Lavir at the entrance to the graveyard to match with Brona's post.

Blood.

Lavir felt at his face where the dagger had swiped across his forehead. A shallow cut. Sneering, he turned back to the girl he was fighting. A duelist. Normal people didn't use magic, that much was certain.

"What's your name, woman?" he asked. She blinked in surprise.
"Brona," she replied stiffly.
Lavir smiled, "Well, Brona. It isn't often I get injured in a fight. That's worth killing you for, I think," his hand tightened on the tombstone it lay on, "But I don't feel like digging a fresh grave." He tugged and the tombstone came out of the ground, "So you'll just have to be buried in the hole you've dug for yourself!" he shouted the last, hurling the mark of somebody's grave at the redheaded girl.
"D00d, that was an awesome one-liner!" Maxwell said.
"Shut up!"

Fire flew from Brona's hands, reducing the tombstone to dust. Lavir's eyes narrowed.
"Fire, water, and wind," he muttered, "What are the odds she does something with earth as well?" He leaped into the air and fling the Maxamune at the mage. She squeaked, having seen the effect of the Maxamune exploding when it hit something, and leaped out of the way. The resulting explosion as the rainbow sword dug into the ground sent a cloud of dust and dirt into the air.
Lavir smirked. The perfect cover. He leaped into the dust and drove his demonic fist straight into Brona's gut. He felt the satisfying crunch of bones underneath his knuckles. Not broken, of course. Not yet. Before she could react, Lavir seized her by the leg and flung her out of the cloud into a grave.

"Don't forget me, d00d!" Maxwell called as Lavir lunged.
"I don't need you to win, doll!" the Hero shouted irritably, glancing at the iridescent blade still a few inches into the ground. The glance cost him. He turned back to Brona in time to see her on her feet, eyes narrowed in concentration, and then Lavir's skin was cut in several places by blades of wind.

Long, deep gashes rent his human arm and there was a long one across his chest. The rest of his wounds were minor nicks and scrapes. Even so, it irritated Lavir that he had been hit once again.

Her knife glinted in the rain and he caught the swipe with his demonic finger. Brona stumbled back, looking stunned. Lavir smirked. Growling, Brona swiped again with her knife and Lavir parried with his finger, treating it like a dagger of his own. He laughed at the mage's rising frustration with each blow he blocked. The Hero smacked her knife aside and swiped at her face with a single clawed finger, leaving a single jagged cut along her cheek. The redheaded girl wiped the blood away and slashed again with her knife. Lavir turned aside and balled up his fist, but Brona followed his movement and a feeble ball of fire flickered in her hand.
"Not this time!" Lavir snarled, leaping back as the mage released her attack. The fireball whizzed through the air toward the Hero as he raised his demonic hand and caught the attack in his fist.

Brona stared at him in wide-eyed shock.
"Here, have it back!" Lavir yelled, tossing Brona's own spell back at her.

Lavir stared at the charging girl. Was she stupid or did she just not realize what would happen when she struck him with the sword? Either way, it was an excellent opportunity to beat up that stupid doll.
Clenching his demonic arm, he punched the blade before Brona could even begin to swing it and it promptly blew up in both of their faces. Brona was thrown backward, but Lavir planted his feet and took the blast. Fortunately for the Hero, Brona's hand still clenched the rainbow sword that held Maxwell's soul.
"Kick her in the balls, d00d!" the Maxamune yelled once it had regenerated.
"I don't even have those!" Brona shouted.
"...Oh, right."

Lavir rolled his eyes and advanced on the mage still struggling to her feet. Her dress was barely clinging to her now and blood was flowing freely. Not even the rain could completely wash it away now. She didn't even try to raise the sword again. What was she planning, then?

Abruptly, the rain on his body began to freeze. Lavir gasped as heat left him and the falling rain became deadly arrows of ice. Naturally, it followed that somebody who could control water and fire could control its forms. Lavir snarled as ice pelted him, leaving tiny pinpricks in his skin with each blow. He'd had enough of all of this stupid water. He flexed his demonic arm, shattering the ice around it, and dug into one of the Satchels of Holding. He gave a mighty tug and out popped a burning meteor.
Lavir smirked as Brona stared at the flaming boulder that he held in his hand. It blasted heat outward, melting the ice around him as well as that fueling Brona's spell.
Lavir lobbed the meteor into the air and leaped up after it. When he had passed it, the Hero twisted in the air and dove into an aerial drop kick straight into his meteor, driving it back to the earth that sent searing columns of flame bursting out of the ground. The heat was so intense that the falling rain had evaporated before it even managed to leave the clouds above.

He could hear Brona screaming as the burning mist seared her skin, but to Lavir, it did not even bother him. He laughed and began to walk slowly toward the mage. It was over. He could see her hunched over in the roiling mists, the Pringer Sword on the ground, forgotten. He seized her by the neck and held her up in front of him.
A blast of wind spiraled outward from the two of them suddenly, clearing away the burning fog. Lavir gave a start. Brona gave him a steely glare as she plunged her knife toward his throat. He had only a split second to react. He bent over backward as though he were about to limbo, throwing Brona's strike off balance. Instead of killing him, the knife only left a tiny cut across the side of his neck. Growling, Lavir flung the mage away from him and seized the Maxamune.

"Hard on!" he growled.
"D00d, are you serious? You're only just now using me?" Maxwell asked as the blade was engulfed in an iridescent light. The crossguard disappeared as the solid blade became a laser of rainbow colors that would slice anything without fail.
"I'm done playing around," he said softly, hefting the Mecha Maxamune in his hand as he stalked to where Brona lay in a crumpled heap.

Hokay, let's get this show on the road.
