Ubisoft is planning to show off the likes of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and Rayman Legends when Gamescom kicks off later this month. All are big titles, and it looks like Ubisoft has one more thing up its sleeve. A brand new next-generation game franchise is set to be revealed at Gamescom, although there's no hint as to what it could be.
At the beginning of July, a trademark appeared for Child of Light, a new project from Patrick Plourde, one of Ubisoft's creative directors. It's planned to be revealed at GDC Europe, which wraps up right as Gamescom begins. That title is described as a small-scale project, but not much else is known otherwise. Child of Light could be the unknown next-gen entry, and since Ubisoft senior vice president Tony Key recently expressed the company's desire for all future games to be franchises, it'll be interesting to see how it all comes together.
Whatever the new franchise ends up being, we'll all have to wait until Gamescom starts on August 21.
