A lengthy 15-minute level walkthrough for Wasteland 2's Agricultural Center was released yesterday and should leave fans more excited than ever. inXile'sKickstarter project pulled in almost $3 million in backer cash and is dedicated to creating an experience fans want. The gameplay footage is packed full of content fans of the original Wasteland title will be pleased to see, on top of just a great looking game.
At first we're treated with some sample audio files that introduce us to the main factions to be found in Wasteland 2, each more terrifying than the last. Then we jump in the Agricultural Center level with four Rangers following up on a distress call. After getting a good look at the game's turn-based combat and skill systems, a couple of conversations are played out with mentions of Wasteland characters Snake Vargas and that creepy recruitable character Ace. There's more to discover for Wasteland faithful, of course.
The latest Kickstarter update also makes mention of how fans are directly influencing the game's development. Whether through contributing ideas through the game's forums, artists contributing concept art, or how ex-military gamers are helping the team out with different slang terms, the community is helping to create Wasteland 2. That's just how inXile wants it.
Brian Fargo claims Wasteland 2 is aimed to ship around October later this year, and the gameplay footage certainly looks like the game's coming along nicely. It's impossible not to be excited about this spiritual successor to Fallout 1 and 2, and I can't wait to see what inXile will have to show us next.
re: The Rangers return in Wasteland 2's first gameplay walkthrough, a post-apocalyptic love letter to fans
I'mnot going to lie. My forays into post Apocalyptia started with Fallout 3 but I have si.ce played the first 2, tactics and Wasteland and I throughly enjoy them. This is just icing to me.
