How about some Dead Island to go with your Thursday? Deep Silver released today the very first Dead Island: Riptide gameplay walkthrough, featuring a hefty dose of actual game footage. Mind you, it's all pre-alpha stuff, but still great to see in action.

The video, narrated by Riptide producer Alex Toplansky, goes through the new island of Palanai, which is still located in the Banoi archipelago. This remote island offers an entirely new playground for survival and zombie-stomping, not to mention new weapons to mess around with. Is that a minigun, you ask? Yes, yes it is.

Unfortunately, that's not something you can just walk around with like the Heavy Weapons Guy; it's more of a retrieval mission, where you need to bring the gun back to a safehouse and hold off a horde. If you still remember your zombie survival training from Left 4 Dead, that'll come in handy here.

Judging by the character's gloved hands, I'm willing to guess Toplansky might be playing as John Morgan, the new guy being adding to Riptide.
