Peter Molyneux and his team at 22cans wants to reinvent the "god game" and its name is GODUS. Whenever Molyneux speaks, people listen, but in this case he needs everyone to do more than that. GODUS, you see, is a Kickstarter project, and if people like his idea to recreate Populous for a modern audience they'll need to donate to help reach the £450,000 goal. Do you still believe in Molyneux?
We're about half a day into GODUS' 30-day allotment and folk have invested about £10k already, so there's still a long way to go. Honestly, I'm rather curious to see how successful the project will be, and whether that end result is due to Peter Molyneux's name or the general awareness and interest in GODUS itself.
GODUS is self-described as:
"GODUS draws on the cunning battle-psychology of Dungeon Keeper, the living, changing world of Black & White and the instinctive, satisfying gameplay of Populous."
22cans' plan for GODUS is to release it within a year of meeting its Kickstarter goal, though they admit they won't release it until they're confident in the game's quality. They've got lots of experiments to get to! Different levels of backer will receive access to beta and alpha stages of the game, and all tiers at or above a £15 donation will get a full copy of the release game. If GODUS sound interesting, make sure to check out the Kickstarter page for more information.
It's Peter Molyneux everybody, come on!
