I've never played the Mass Effect games so I'm quite interested. Well...I'll try to keep it short. Here are my main problems with it. 1. All your decisions from the entire series, from smaller ones like saving or killing an ally, to big ones like deciding whether to kill an entire species or save it, become worthless. Your Shepard doesn't matter. You get a red, blue, or green ending. 2. Lack of closure (which was mostly fixed by the Extended Cut dlc). You don't know if you survive. What happens to the rest of the galaxy. The other species. Your crewmates (who are almost unanimously agreed to be the best part of Mass Effect). 3. I'll have to be vague to keep it free of spoilers. Let's just say, at the end of the game (seriously, the last ten minutes), they invent something that A: makes no sense, and B: basically retcons the first game. Here's a quote and link to a very good (full of spoilers though) article that addresses most of my issues with the ending of ME3. Spoiler: Imagine Frodo, dangling the One Ring, over the fiery chasm of Mt. Doom. He turns, and says, “The Ring is Mine!” and slips the One Ring onto his finger. Suddenly he’s whisked into a universe contained inside the One Ring, an entire world trapped in the essence of the ring. He meets the Keeper of the Ring, an ethereal spirit who has dwelled within the ring since its creation and now Frodo must make the ultimate sacrifice. He has to become the ring, in order to destroy it. How many people in the theater, watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy, would have stood up and said: “What the bleep is this shit?” All of them, that’s how many, and do you know why? Because it introduces a new element that, by its very existence, shatters everything we, the audience, have come to understand about the world of Middle-Earth. If the Ring possesses a consciousness, why didn’t it destroy Sauron? Why is the Keeper of the Ring only now showing up when Frodo has put the Ring on before? Why does Frodo have to die to destroy it? See throughout all three movies of Lord of the Rings we came to understand the universe, and how it worked; the rules and limits the characters were forced to work under. The Ring was a corrupting influence but could make the wearer invisible, it could only be destroyed in the fires of Mt. Doom, and Sauron created it. Suddenly introducing a new element, right at the end of the story, puts everything the audience knows into doubt including everything they enjoyed about the movie before the horrible ending came. They actually let on with subtle clues but many people miss this in favor of "Oh who am I to bang in this game LOLOL" And let me begin to describe why your little 'spoiler' is an incorrect analogy of the series as a whole. 1. The One Ring actually does have a will of its own that corrupts as it goes. And Sauron was its maker therefore its maker's will is also it's. Its influence is both small and large (depending on who you loook at) however but that whole schpeel about all that is just... wrong and obviously you either haven't actually read the books or remember things very wrong. As for how many people would actually say anything in the theater is debatable. Throughout the the movies and 6 novels and though we understand a great deal about Middle Earth there are things that even Tolkien didn't and wouldn't elaborate upon. So do we really know the laws of this universe as intrinsically as you claim? Anyway the that argument is flawed from the ground up, feel free to turn this back on me like I'm the one being belligerent however. 	Children.. please. Logic! Look. Saying something is true doesn't make it true. A lot of people saying something is true, still doesn't make it true. A lot of people saying something is true -- doesn't make it false on it's own (even if that tends to be how it works. And things are a bit iffy when we're talking about opinions on entertainment). .... ..And I'm sure the ME3 ending had been great if Bioware had explored the indoctrination path a bit better, for example. But as it stands, it's a contradictory mess that breaks with the entire series... as well as the story up to even the point right up to where you're presented with the final segment. I mean, what they're doing is to shift the point of view of the story-teller. Before the segment begins, you would see things as Shepard sees it. That's how things are told throughout the entire series - you are Shepard. People talk to Shepard. Shepard makes calls. And towards the final segment you're gradually removed to a spectator role -- while still being allowed to control Shepard through the scene, and you also make some sort of choice at the end that the story tells you is your own. It's just bad form. Bad narrative that breaks apart. It's as if the director on Ghost in The Shell found out that the Major didn't need any real motivation throughout the entire film, so they just removed every hint throughout the film that led to the point where she has steamy hot nano cyber sex with the computer virus. Because, the writers would have said if they worked at Bioware, what's important is actually Batou's story. In the sense that an unspoken narrative between Batou and the Major is what /really/ explains the drama -- /if/ it had been explained in the film more directly. That would have been about the same level. I mean, the team they had to write ME2 even was so good they could have made ME3 into something really memorable. And instead we got more "Plan 9 and the Humanoid Reaper from outer space". .. ------------------- "You're rhetoric is beyond the scope of any stable mind. "

	What everybody seems to be forgetting is how little any of their opinions matter. To quote Warren Spector from an episode of GI Replay "It's an artform damn it". Bioware is the games creator, they could have ended it with a monkey throwing his shit around the Normandy if they had wanted to. As the fanbase it isn't our place to make ungrateful demands but to make rational and respectful critiques. I didn't like Duma Key by Stephen King but I didn't send him letters (the equivalent of posting on a developers forum) that read "OMG King u r asshole for writing ur shitty book, i hope you get and die of canceraids and I'MNEVERREADINGANYTHINGYOUWRITEAGAIN!!!"
