The Grand Theft Auto IV Steam sale has been a hit with PC gamers, so much so that Valve actually ran out of keys today. The sale is currently in its seventh day.

For a brief period, visiting the GTA IV product page on Steam got you this somewhat alarming notice:

Notice: We are currently out of CD Keys for GTA IV and have contacted the publisher for more. Once CD Keys have been replenished, all purchasers will automatically receive a CD Key.

Then, less than half an hour after we spot the sad announcement, it's gone, and the sale resumes like nothing ever happened. We can only guess that Valve quickly called someone over at Rockstar and said something along the lines of, "AAH, WE NEED MORE KEYS!"

The hefty 75 percent discount is scheduled to end on Sunday, July 22. Will they be running out again before then? Only time will tell (but we think not).
