PlayStation Home, the social playground hidden inside all PlayStation 3s, is apparently still pumping out content. Beginning today, three new free-to-play titles will be released -- one now and the others over the rest of spring and summer. For what it's worth, Sony says these games are the, "deepest and most immersive" available on the platform.

Says Chris Mahoney, Senior Business Manager of PlayStation Home at SCEA:

"These new titles are delivering on the promise we made to the PlayStation Home community when we first launched the new core experience in November of last year, offering a variety of genre-based games to suit every gamer's preference."

These free-to-play releases are part of a movement by Sony to reinvigorate PlayStation Home. The system received a redesign in November 2011, and Sony is hoping these new titles will help keep Home patrons connecting.

The three new titles, with short descriptions, are as follows:

• Cutthroats: Battle for Black Powder Cove: Pirate ship battles with up to 24 players (Now available).
• No Man's Land: Ambitious multiplayer shooter with Team Deathmatch and cooperative modes (Spring 2012).
• Mercia: Multiplayer fantasy RPG with crafting, upgrading and resource management (Summer 2012).

Considering what other games are readily available on PlayStation Home, it's hard to tell what sort of depth or quality these free-to-play titles with have. While the continued support of PlayStation Home is appreciated, especially by the service's dedicated fanbase, you have to wonder: is this just Sony trying to keep gamers appeased until the PS4 is released? Then again, they didn't really have to release anything at all.
