how many break due to phones being dropped? im guessing quite a significant amount, yes?

To clarify, by "low maintenance" I was thinking more along the lines of "works straight out of the box, easy to use, everything is automatic and easy". At a contrast to the relative complexity of the Android OS. You trade freedom and functionality for ease of use.

I really don't know what the fail rate is like for these things. I still have my gen 2 iPod touch from nearly 5 years ago now, and whilst it's a little shakey (the power button now turns the volume up and the volume buttons lock the screen, plus it occasionally crashes), it still works. I'm using it right now :D

Also I had a friend who dropped his phone down a flight of stairs, and totally smashed the screen. It still worked for several months afterwards apart from him occasionally having to press it particularly hard in some places. You could barely see what was on the screen at all :P

Celes Leonhart, I think it is really illogical to compare the warranty use rates of iPhones with other products. They, in terms of single product sales, out do everyone else in the market with Samsung maybe coming close with their S3. Of course you're going to get a higher proportion of iPhones than One Xs or Xperias.

hiigaran, with Apple products you usually don't have to pay to fix them if something goes wrong. They'll take care of it for you or you'll pay a relatively minimal price for quality support as opposed to just being told by an online support guy you have to send it away for three or more weeks.

Anyone gonna use this? Looks good to me... even if the advert's really cheesy.

Yeah I had the same idea. Building what would effectively be a games console on the cheap, and keeping it in the living room. If they can get everything working with Linux then I'm definitely gonna give it a shot.
